January 2, 2012 - Monday

A very dear friend gave these to me maybe 6 or 7 years ago. I've taken pictures of them before. They are really warm comforters for your feet. I'm so disappointed. In the last couple of weeks the feathers have begun to poke out of the seams.

January 3, 2012 - Tuesday

I picked up Riley after school and we went grocery shopping. Chips Ahoy are on sale at Kroger. I made some Cookie Pudding for us this evening. It dosn't take much because it's rather sweet. This is a Greatest Dad Taz mug she got me years ago.

January 4, 2012 - Wednesday

I had to break into my own house tonight. My favorite daughter didn't put the emergency key back so we were locked out. It wouldn't have been so bad, but I didn't put on my sweatshirt over my t-shirt and it was a little cool outside. I had to break a window with her head. Hee hee hee.

January 5, 2012 - Thursday

This is why I don't let Shadow on the couch that often. He won't lay still and he hogs the whole thing. Look how big his nose looks in this picture. He's gonna hate that I posted this photo and pointed that out.

January 6, 2012 - Friday

One of the perks, if there are any, of being unemployed is the ability to go this store. It's near my house but their hours are very short. I'm never off work in time to stop by before they're closed. I stopped by today and picked up a few for Riley and my mom and dad who came over today.

January 7, 2012 - Saturday

With the Cowboys showing the character of their owner and not making a playoff appearance, I'm now pulling for the Saints to win it all. Green Bay may have the best record, but the Saint are playing like an unstoppable machine. I'm part of the Who Dat Nation for the next month.

January 8, 2012 - Sunday

I'm rooting for this guy. I like him because he's an underdog and a competitor. I like that he gives credit to his team and coaches and wears his faith on his sleeve. I like Coach Tomlin, but am glad the Broncos pulled this one out on the strength of Tebow's play.

January 9, 2012 - Monday

Made some breakfast tacos for lunch today with some red chile torillas a friend gave me. What a great flavor these had. They're from Central Market I think. My eggs were pretty darn good too.

January 10, 2012 - Tuesday

I know I had a photo of her last month, but we don't see her as often as we used to. She's obviously making the rounds and found someone who's feeding her, well. She's kinda fat now, but at least now that she's older her head doesn't look too small for her body anymore.

January 11, 2012 - Wednesday

Went to have lunch with my sister at Mia's today. Saw a couple of old friends while we were having chips and salsa. I had sour cream chicken enchiladas. They're so good here I didn't even think to take a picture of them before I started eating.

January 12, 2012 - Thursday

Sometimes Zeke just needs to lay on the couch whether I want him to or not. When he does he comes over and walks up and over me like he lays up here all the time. I didn't mind too much. He helped keep my feet warm.

January 13, 2012 - Friday

Went to Sam's today to get some dog food. These are some dog toys they have there. A skunk and possum with tire tread on them. I like the Xs for eyes. That's how you know they're dead.

January 14, 2012 - Saturday

Went to lunch and a movie with a friend and her daughter. I didn't finish my cheese fries, but I did enjoy my meal. We went to see Beauty and the Beast in 3D after. Don't play with your food kids.

January 15, 2012 - Sunday

In spite of the cold weather, I grilled some boneless ribs. I seasoned them with blackening spices and brown sugar overnight. Sticky, spicy deliciousness.

January 16, 2012 - Monday

Shadow is always so excited when Riley comes home after being gone for a week. But he's not so excited after she's been home for an hour or so. Instead of folding the pillowcase she wrapped his head with it. Doesn't he look happy?

January 17, 2012 - Tuesday

One of the reasons Shadow loves Riley so much is that he knows he can give her sad puppy eyes and she'll give him most anything. This time he was rewarded with Twizzlers. It's funny to watch him chew.

January 18, 2012 - Wednesday

With my new found freedom I've begun watching How I Met Your Mother. This is the second sexiest thing I've seen this year. Loving to smoke a cigar myself, I really appreciate a beautiful woman who'll light one up on occasion.

January 20, 2012 - Friday

Went to lunch with friends in Deep Ellum. It was good to see some old friends. We were celebrating some b-days too. This was painted on the side of a trash can outside the restaurant on the corner.

January 22, 2012 - Sunday

Spent most of the day on the couch watching the playoffs. Zeke decided to keep me company. He wasn't too excited about the Patriots and Ravens. He slept through most of it. What a beautiful day. Sunny and 75°.

January 23, 2012 - Monday

I've taken more photos of the dogs recently. I guess I'm spending more time on the couch with my laptop. This is Shadow again. He's on his back curled in a circle. That's one of his front paws in the foreground and one of his back paws behind his nose. He does yoga once a week on Thursdays.

January 25, 2012 - Wednesday

It rained so much today. We had a rare winter thunderstorm and I think record rainfall. It was nice waking up and going to sleep to the sound of the rain.

January 27, 2012 - Friday

Spent almost the whole day here with a friend and her sick baby. This was at the end of the day when I was walking out to the car. Sick babies are the saddest thing. Their eyes get so dull and lifeless, but he's better now and going home soon.

January 29, 2012 - Sunday

I was home alone with the dogs. Shadow made some toast but forgot the toaster's timer doesn't work. He filled the house with smoke. This is the dogs' room. Even it had smoke in it. It was pretty cold today and airing out the house was very chilly.

January 30, 2012 - Monday

The other night I was talking to my friend's daughter about hot dogs and corny dogs. She doesn't like mustard. How weird. Since then I've been craving these with lots of mustard. Frenches, of course. Mmmm.

January 31, 2012 - Tuesday

Went and did some grocery shopping when I picked up Riley yesterday. Avocados are on sale. Mmmmm. This was my lunch today, delicious. Today is such a beautiful day. I have the house open. Which is good since the house still smells a little smokey. See the 29th.
