I know I posted a photo of a frittata a couple of weeks ago, but I had some mushrooms left over from the dinner I made the other day. I sauteed them with some onions before I mixed all this up. This is a whole different kind of good.

August 29, 2014 - Friday

I haven't been sleeping well for a while so a friend gave me some natural supplements that help, but if I forget to take them I have weird dreams. I woke from a really weird one this morning to the pitter patter of a light rain at 5am. Coming home today I thought it might rain again.

August 28, 2014 - Thursday

All the times I've made this, and it's been lots, I've never made it for Riley because she doesn't like mushrooms. I decided this time to make it for her and just chop the mushrooms really small. She had two servings! But by the end of the second she was just picking out the chicken.

August 27, 2014 - Wednesday

I made this salad last night to bring for lunch this week. It's so simple and so good. Riley doesn't like the mixed greens. She says it tastes like grass. When has she ever eaten grass. Maybe I don't want to know. Whatever, the balsamic vinaigrette is the perfect dressing for it.

August 26, 2014 - Tuesday

I had a bunch of errands to run after work so by the time I got home I didn't really feel like cooking at all. I picked up dinner for Riley, but I had some avocados that really needed to be used. I made guacamole for dinner. It turned out really good.

August 25, 2014 - Monday

I went home after work, Riley's out with a friend so I decided to have breakfast for dinner. I didn't get a lot of sleep last night so I think I'll be going to bed shortly after breakfast.

August 24, 2014 - Sunday

I just read that the donations to alsa.org have topped $79 million. I have a friend who's father passed from ALS when she was little. Right now there's probably another little girl going through the same thing. It's pretty cool that all this silliness might help that never happen again.

August 23, 2014 - Saturday

Riley and I got up early, well early for RIley, and went out to InSync so Riley could see the baby lions. They're not too small anymore, but still so cute. A friend that volunteers there showed us around. They have so many new cats.

August 22, 2014 - Friday

I went to meet a friend for lunch in a very crowded shopping center. When I got back to my car I realized James Bond parked his Aston Martin next to me. I wanted to wipe the dirt off when I took this but I guess that would be kind of weird.

August 21, 2014 - Thursday

After exerting myself yesterday in the kitchen, I decided to take the night off. This past weekend I bought strawberries. I should have bought some Frosted Flakes too.

August 20, 2014 - Wednesday

I had Chicken PIccata last Friday and decided over the weekend to get the stuff to attempt it myself. I didn't look up any recipes but I've seen it made a few times on the Food Network. I must say my first try was really  good.

August 19, 2014 - Tuesday

I went at lunch to pick up RIley and say "Goodbye" to Rane for the last time. Next time I see her will be when I drop off Riley and all their stuff in Montreal. Looks like Riley and I will have one last road trip before she's out on her own. I'm so glad they're going out on their own together.

August 18, 2014 - Monday

I spent the evening with my two daughters. My second kid is going to Canada Wednesday. My first kid is going to follow her up there in a month to be her roommate. It was great having dinner with both of them and then going for dessert too. I'm going to miss them both so much.

August 17, 2014 - Sunday

I haven't made one of these in a long while. I couldn't remember if it was two potatoes or three. It put in three. Turns out it was only two. Regardless it was still delicious.

August 16, 2014 - Saturday

I got out to run a few errands. When I came out of Sam's it was raining a bit. By the time I got out on the street  the rain was coming down sideways. At one point I could barely see out my windshield and almost hit a construction sign that blew on to the road.

August 15, 2014 - Friday

Riley was spending the night at Rane's tonight so Biggie decided she didn't need to stay in Riley's room. I went to my room to go to bed and she was in my window over my bed. She even stayed there while I went to get my camera. I wish I didn't live so close to these stop lights.

August 14, 2014 - Thursday

We had a couple of the guys out of the office today at a shoot. One of them brought back some desserts from the catered lunch. This was sweet, lemony goodness. I need to figure out a way to get invited to some of these shoots.

August 13, 2014 - Wednesday

I've lived in my neighborhood since before Riley started kindergarten and though I've only come to enjoy Thai food in the last few years, I never think to try the Thai place by my house. Well I finally did and I wasn't too impressed. I'm going to give it one more try next week.

August 12, 2014 - Tuesday

He passed away yesterday. There's a line that's only in the TV version of Dead Poets Society, Words cannot contain, as music does, the unsayable grace that cannot be defined. The beauty that leaps from mind to mind. I don't know why that has always stuck with me. Except that it's true.

August 11, 2014 - Monday

The guy at our office who buys supplies is doing this on purpose. My will is going to be tested until these are gone. Maybe I should just eat them all quickly.

August 10, 2014 - Sunday

I went to friend's house to go look at wood flooring with her. I ended up spending some time up in her attic checking on a leak. It was pretty hot up there. She thanked me with dinner from Zorba's. Oliver always sits on the couch looking over the back watching us. We're not supposed to share.

August 9, 2014 - Saturday

I've stopped drinking cokes for the most part. Riley still likes them. Fortunately for me, she likes sodas that I can't stand.

August 8, 2014 - Friday

Riley was dying her hair tonight and a nosy somebody got a little too close.

August 7, 2014 - Thursday

Riley has begun packing her stuff and using the front room to start stacking it all. She moved Grace's bed from the front room to the TV room and she just looked so sweet sleeping in the glow of the TV.

August 6, 2014 - Wednesday

I made these last night with the expectation of taking them to dinner with a friend tonight. I make these with both milk and dark chocolate, the dark being my favorite. These turned out so good, but the filling needs just a small bit of work, still.

August 5, 2014 - Tuesday

Every time I make my Chocolate Pillows I tweak the filling a little. Sometimes trying to make it fluffier or a bit more firm. This time I decided to make it with a bit less sugar and no small amount of chocolate. I may have mentioned this before, but I'm a Genius.

August 4, 2014 - Monday

Riley and I went to the grocery store after work and I picked up some stuff to make a big batch of baked ziti. It was the quick kind with a simple red sauce, not the sauce I make from time to time. At any rate it turned out really good and I have lunch for the week.

August 3, 2014 - Sunday

I went to visit a friend in Ft. Worth to do a little project. They have cats and dogs and lots of them. This is Willy. He's very skittish and not too friendly to strangers. He even peed on me once. Fortunately for me he's a small dog with a small bladder.

So the other day I mentioned not being inspired to cook. That's still going on. I've fallen back on old standbys. I haven't made one of these since Riley was little. She's not a fan of eggs anymore so I made this for myself for lunch while she was gone.

I went to get my hair cut at lunch. I took a picture of a pile of my hair on the floor because there was so much gray in it, but on the way back to the office this guy pulled up next to me. Look at those eyes. This is much better than a picture of gray hair.
