June 30, 2014 - Monday
This weekend I made stew. I know it's June in Texas, don't ask. To make up for it this evening I made this. A very light, simple dish with fresh veggies and herbs from a friends garden, a little olive oil, lemon zest and juice and some grated parmesan tossed in warm angel hair. Not too shabby.
June 29, 2014 - Sunday
This is the first year that I've kinda gotten into the World Cup. Saturday's game with Brazil v Chile was so good. I felt so bad for the guy at the end of that one. The Mexico v Netherland's game was exciting until the end. What a Labron-worthy flop.
June 28, 2014 - Saturday
It's that time of year when the cherries are in season. I love my fruit cold. I took these out of the fridge and put them in a bowl. I got a drink and turned around and saw the condensation on them in the afternoon light in my kitchen. These are so good and sweet.
June 27, 2014 - Friday
I have to look at this beautiful car every day, each time I come and go from the parking garage. It's really just a mixture of appreciation with a pinch of jealousy. It is such a beautiful automobile and it makes such a wonderful sound when it starts.
June 26, 2014 - Thursday
Pulled out of my alley this morning to this. I thought all that color on the trees and the street looked really cool, especially with all that gray around it. I don't know why all those blossoms are on the ground, but I'm glad they are. A colorful way to start the day.
June 25, 2014 - Wednesday
Met a friend for dinner. It was good food, good conversation, a bit of wine, a friend I've known for 13 years and a small scoop of ice cream. On the way home this beautiful sunset only looked better and better until it disappeared. All mid-week evenings should be like this.
June 24, 2014 - Tuesday
"Tut tut, looks like rain." - Christopher Robin. Fortunately we just got a bunch of rain in my neighborhood. East of us there was lots of flash flooding and lots of people driving where they should know better than to drive.
June 23, 2014 - Monday
This was parked across from our building today. Not something you see every day. I don't think it's really a Lincoln, but I could be wrong. The funny part was watching the guy climb into it.
June 22, 2014 - Sunday
After spending most of the day on my feet cooking and cleaning, my ankle decided to insist I spend some time on the couch. One the one hand I was thankful to be resting, but on the other hand the Aleve wasn't kicking in fast enough. We had a fun time with the family today.
June 21, 2014 - Saturday
Spent most of the day getting ready to have some family over tomorrow to celebrate Riley's graduation. RIley and I spent the evening on the couch. She brings Biggie out to try to get her used to me and Grace. She's still not too excited about Grace.
June 20, 2014 - Friday
Went to a friend's after work. Her and a friend were preparing for a garage sale. Apparently this requires some small amount of alcohol. I was there to do some IT work for her. That did require a small amount of alcohol. And no, that's not Crown in that glass.
June 19, 2014 - Thursday
Biggie Smalls lives with us now. She's gonna take a while to get used to me and Grace. The introduction to Grace went okay. I don't think Grace even cares that she exists. Biggie on the other hand was not excited to meet Grace at all. She does like to play with bubbles though.
June 18, 2014 - Wednesday
It rained on my on my way home. Obviously not a lot, but the blue at the top of my windshield made the sky look a little more dramatic. It started pouring after I got home and was about a block from the house taking Grace for a walk.
June 17, 2014 - Tuesday
The sun setting on a pretty good day. Riley and I went out to dinner and then did some grocery shopping.
June 16, 2014 - Monday
I went to visit a friend after work. She made dinner, I brought some wine and this guy provide the belly to rub. Not a bad way to end a Monday.
June 15, 2014 - Sunday
Me and my babygirl went out to brunch to celebrate her graduation and Father's Day. I find myself thinking more and more about my time with her and wondering if I've taught her enough, have I been a good enough example... did I do enough. Whatever else happens, her smile lights up my day.
June 14, 2014 - Saturday
Last year, through very poor planning on their part, a friend had a baby four days after my b-day. In their defense, you couldn't really ask for a better Father's Day present so I guess his wife deserves some credit. I went to their house to celebrate their baby girls birthday. This is her buddy.
June 13, 2014 - Friday
I got together with a bunch of really great friends for a birthday dinner. This friend is about as goofy as she is pretty. She says she has "man hands." There is nothing remotely masculine about her. It was so good to see so many of my friends that I don't get to see as often as I'd like.
June 12, 2014 - Thursday
When I got home yesterday my patio had all these little wood chips all over it. I have no idea what is doing this. So far guesses have included woodpeckers and beavers, really?? The best explanation so far, maybe a squirrel has taken up whittling in the tree overhead. Any ideas?
June 11, 2014 - Wednesday
For my 45th birthday I was craving a big old-fashioned burger. But after the calls from my doctor last month I have to reconsider my options when eating. In this case I'm getting some good cholesterol, the guacamole, in with the bad. It's all about the balance.
June 10, 2014 - Tuesday
I saw this Mimosa tree as I was pulling into my neighborhood. I thought it looked so cool with the sun hitting the tops. I went home and got Grace then she and I stopped to take this while we were on our walk. She's so patient with me.
June 9, 2014 - Monday
I was getting out of my car later in the evening and looked across the roof of my car. These colors caught my attention.
June 8, 2014 - Sunday
I didn't get very many blossoms on my Magnolia tree this year and even fewer that I could see from my window. Last year I got a couple of really nice clean flowers. This year, not so much.
June 7, 2014 - Saturday
I woke up in the middle of the night and had an "Oh, Crap" moment. I realized I hadn't take a picture today. I'm at 158 days without missing a day. Almost halfway through the year. I picked up my phone and took a picture of my glass of water and wallet. Now I can sleep.
June 6, 2014 - Friday
Happy National Donut Day!!!. I came back from lunch with a friend to an empty office and a half empty box of Krispy Kreams. So I turned my music up loud and had a donut or two. Chocolate, of course.
June 5, 2014 - Thursday
I was out running errands after work. I was driving and saw this building. I thought it looked pretty cool in the setting sun.
June 4, 2014 - Wednesday
Riley and I went out to dinner at the Chiloso at Campbell and 75. I really like their grilled chicken salad. Now I don't have to drive all the way out to Wylie to get one. On top of that, this is across the parking lot from them and you don't have to buy a whole dozen. You can, but you don't "have" to.
June 3, 2014 - Tuesday
I went to the grocery store and picked up some graham crackers. I love these, but I noticed that the box is smaller than it used to be and there are only 3 packages inside not 4 like before. To make matters worse I got home and didn't have any milk.
June 2, 2014 - Monday
It's that time of year again when these start blooming in the trees behind my house. I've notice that you can almost see the paasing of seasons with the pictures I've taken over the last few years. We had one of these trees in our front yard when I was growing up.
June 1, 2014 - Sunday
As I was leaving a friend's house my headlights came across this little guy in a neighbor's yard. He didn't move so I stopped hopping/hoping he would stay long enough for me to get my camera out. He was still there as I drove away.

What was I thinking....
I don't know. I came up with the photo of the day idea because I was bored and needed something to get me motivated creatively after I got fired. I already enjoyed taking photos and knew this would force me to really open my eyes, looking for moments, subjects or anything to shoot. Some days I don't get my camera out fast enough.
I initially posted my photos as an album on Facebook to share with friends. I started in July of 2010 and went back to my b-day in June. That’s why there are only a few photos in the first month and why it starts in the middle of the year.
Being a web designer building a site just seemed like the next logical step for me after a few months. It was an opportunity to build something new that I hadn't built before and another creative project. My first iteration of the website wa in Flash, but the second time around I wanted it to be accessible on mobile devices too.
I have a couple of photography books I'm working on and this project would help feed the need for content, but more importantly, help maintain a level of creative momentum. The best part - there are NO rules. Everything is valid; the interesting, of course, the silly, because its funny (at least to me) or the mundane, just because.
I try to take a photo every day, but sometimes I don’t. Of course some days I take way more than one. Vacations and events are big occasions though I try not to post photos of family and friends. I didn’t really come to this decision until a little ways into this so you’ll see a few faces in the early months of this project.
Enjoy
