A friend and I were texting about a drink after work. I was debating picking up some beer on the way home. She mentioned how the days of enjoying a drink on the patio are numbered. I had to agree. After a walk with Grace I went out back on my patio and texted her, "You were right."

May 29, 2014 - Thursday

I had to go back and have my bloodwork done today because no one told me I wasn't supposed to eat before I "donated" last time. When the nurse called, "Mr. Botello, did you know your cholesterol is high?" I pretended to be shocked and surprised.

May 28, 2014 - Wednesday

Double Chocolate Banana Bread tastes even better than it sounds. I got home and the sun was shining in my kitchen window on the counter just right so I decided to have dessert before dinner. I didn't want to waste the good lighting.

May 27, 2014 - Tuesday

I got home after work and took Grace for a walk. The sun was shinning so bright, but it was sprinkling ever so slightly. You could see the rain drops catching the light as we walked down the street. After our walk I went out back to get rid of the "bag", this is growing in my alley.

May 26, 2014 - Monday

I went to pick up Riley to get some lunch. I saw a momma duck walking along the pond with her babies. When I got out of my car to take some pics I saw there were several mommas with lots of little ducklings. Fortunately, they were sitting pretty still.

May 25, 2014 - Sunday

I saw a show that explained virtually all plant growth is determined by a specific algorithm. Some hear that and think science and evolution. I think that's pretty efficient use of God's time. I think its the same with people, regardless of what we look like on the outside we're all pretty much the same inside.

May 24, 2014 - Saturday

I went out back to get some Chinese food for dinner. For the last several years whenever Riley asks for money she reminds me that its an investment in my retirement cause she's going to take care of me when I get old. I told her I get to live with her at least 18 years.

May 23, 2014 - Friday

I went out to a friends for dinner and didn't get home until pretty late. We had quite a bit of wine. When I got home Grace and I went for a walk. She said she wanted Whataburger. So we went for a ride and got a late night snack. I would like to reiterate, this was Grace's idea.

May 22, 2014 - Thursday

Nevermind that my sheets don't match. I sleep with my blanket, then a sheet and then my comforter. I know I turn in my sleep a lot but how does the sheet end up rolled up next to me and my blanket and comforter still on me. I can't understand how this happens. I have been having a lot of weird dreams.

Around the block along the route Grace and I take a neighbor planted a bunch of these along the sidewalk.

That spoon is rather shiny and clean, isn't it? My friend told me this is a really good dessert becuase it has very little sugar and it's as close to guilt free as you're going to get. She takes this much more seriously than I do. I can eat most anything and not feel guilty. Linda's Fudge Cake comes to mind.

This is in front of a house down the street. 1) This explains the occasional cop car outside the house late at night. Domestic violence, I'm guessing. 2) How many of these could the company that makes them possibly sell. Though I knew a vet once that I would wear an A&M shirt for. She was cute.

We took Rane out for her birthday. It was a beautiful day to be out on a patio. It's beginning to sink in that days like this with these two are going to become fewer and farther between. Which is kinda sad, because their company is pretty entertaining.

I went to pick up Riley from her mom's and I got out to take some pics of a momma duck and her ducklings. While I was taking pictures I heard this guy chattrering at me the whole time. I turned around and he was standing on a branch just a few feet away.

May 15, 2014 - Thursday

Around 8:45 in the evening Grace and I went to Target to get her food and some poop bags. I ended up having to go to Walmart because Target didn't have her food. This is the look she was giving me while I was complaining about standing in line for 25 minutes in Walmart. She doesn't look like she cares.

May 14, 2014 - Wednesday

I wasn't too busy today and got most of my work done during the morning. I was left alone in the office this afternoon so I turned the music up loud and took a break on the couch. I also took this picture to see if my boss would notice. I added the bottle just for kicks.

My Magnolia tree is beginning to bloom. Unfortunately it's on the east side of my home so it only gets great light in the early morning. This tree is right outside my bathroom window. Maybe I should leave my camera there at night to get better shots of it in the morning.

My friend that helped me this weekend called to tell me to move my plants under my eaves out of the deluge that was coming. I took this just after I got home. It was so dark my patio lights were already on. It rained pretty hard during the day but was even worse after I got home.

I went out to water my new plants. Apparently that's something I'm supposed to do everyday now. While we were shopping yesterday for plants I came across a really cool looking one that I think I'll get for another part of my yard. It's called something that sounds like Blue Winnebago.

A friend of mine came over today to help me with my back patio. We went and did some shopping for plants and stuff. I think she has an addiction. I've never seen anyone get so excited walking into a Calloways before. In return for her help, I cooked most of the afternoon and I bought her a plant.

Riley, her BF, her mom and I went shopping together for a prom dress for her. It was actually kinda fun. She was quite a bit taller than me with her heels on. She drove us home after. Her mom wasn't happy with that. She had never been on the highway with her. hahaha

May 8, 2014 - Thursday

Riley and I went out and took Grace with us. With the weather getting warmer it's beginning to get too warm to leave her in the car when I go for quick trips to the grocery store or where ever. It's kinda sad because she loves to go for rides.

May 7, 2014 - Wednesday

Today is my last day with my house guest, Oliver. He's been so cool to have around. He's really calm and just likes to hang out on the couch. This is our last walk before I took him back home to his momma.

I was taking the dogs for a walk and everyday I pass this bush. It used to be covered in these, but now there are only a few left. This one was on the underside of the bush and the sun was peeking in just right. They smell wonderful unless you happen to be carrying a bag full of dog poop.

My doctor sent me to have my blood work done. The lady that did it was wearing these and she was equally as colorful herself. She had great hair too. I happened to be wearing my tie dye shirt so we got along great in spite of her taking 5 vials of my blood.

A friend showed me this. It is all kinds of genius. Dark chocolate chips with a bit of coconut oil warmed up and served with cold banana slices. Don't try this around someone you don't know unless you don't mind licking the bowl in front of strangers. May the 4th be with you.

I have a friend who teaches. Her favorite thing to teach about is animals. Her school was having a fair this weekend and I got to meet Zeus, an 8 foot long, cuddly, sweet guy. It was cool to hang out with another friend and his wife after at the Mellow Mushroom. Great pizza!

My insurance coverage started yesterday so I made an appointment with my new Primary Care Physician. I needed to get a prescription renewed and get a referral for my rheumatologist that I've been seeing for years.  She's sending me to get all my blood work done to make sure I don't explode.

So for the last few months I've deiced to only allow myself a coke and fast food once a month. Today while running errands Whataburger crossed my mind. Since it is only once a month I try to make my selections special. This Whataburger with cheese was sooooooooo gooooooood.
