November 30, 2014 - Sunday

We all spent the evening in. They asked me to make my Creamy Chicken and Mushroom Orzo for dinner. This really is a great cold weather dish. We spent the evening acquainting Alex with the first season of The Walking Dead. She was not really a willing participant, but a good sport.

November 29, 2014 - Saturday

Riley and I went out exploring Montreal a little bit this evening. There was a little bit of snow left over from yesterday and it was kinda too cold to be walking around but it was fun. We found a great crepe place and a guy that looked like Tio Salamanca from Breaking Bad was at the table next to us.

November 28, 2014 - Friday

I woke up to a little bit of snow on the ground. We're on the third floor and though you can't really see from this photo it was still snowing just a little. It's not really cold here until it gets dark and the wind picks up a bit. Then I wish I had some thermals under my jeans.

November 27, 2014 - Thursday

It's weird that no one is getting ready for Thanksgiving here. Riley and I went to do some shopping for some stuff for their apartment. Yesterday, down here in the Metro tunnels a guy had a speaker that was playing music and he played along on his violin. It was beautiful echoing on all the concrete.

November 26, 2014 - Wednesday

Riley and I spent the day getting groceries and doing some shopping. In addition to bringing their belongings to them they also wanted me to do some cooking for them. I made the Greek Chicken Pasta for dinner. We picked up some stuff for Baked Ziti tomorrow for Thanksgiving.

November 25, 2014 - Tuesday

I had to bring the moving truck back to the US. I came into Plattsburgh, NY to leave the truck. I stopped at this pub for lunch and a drink while I was waiting on the train to take me back to Montreal. I had a really delicious Philly Cheesesteak. The train ride was relaxing and I got a little bit of work done.

November 24, 2014 - Monday

What a beautiful sunny day today. My parents were worried about the weather but prayed that I would have safe travels. If you need anything, get them to pray for you. I could not have imagined that my drive would be so easy. There was a double rainbow as I was crossing into Canada. Can't wait to see the girls.

November 23, 2014 - Sunday

It rained a little on me around Louisville, KY but other than that is was just cloudy most of the day. It's been in the 50's since I left Texas but I did get to play in the snow for a second in Erie, PA. It began to rain after I went to bed. It was a long drive today from Bowling Green, KY to Elmore, NY.

November 22, 2014 - Saturday

I went to Rane's this morning to pick up her stuff and then I hit the road. This is going to be a long trip, longer than I've ever done alone. My parent's were worried with all the Polar Vortex weather that we had earlier in the week. It only sprinkled on me as I was leaving the Dallas area.

November 21, 2014 - Friday

I came home after work to load all of Riley's stuff into the moving truck. I stopped and sat on the porch to take a break and saw this girl sitting in one of my maple tree pots. She was friendly enough to come over to be petted for a bit. She belongs to the neighbor.

November 20, 2014 - Thursday

Day 5 of the B/W challenge. Our agency had a pre-holiday happy hour. A little bit of Jack with a splash of water. Not a bad way to spend the evening.

November 19, 2014 - Wednesday

Day 4 of the B/W challenge. Do y'all remember Jiffy Pop Stove Top Popcorn? This isn't it. We have quite a bit of candy at the office. Lots of mini Reese Peanut Butter Cups. Now I'm thinking of the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving with popcorn, toast, pretzel sticks and jelly beans.

November 18, 2014 - Tuesday

Day 3 of the B/W challenge. A black pen, a black sharpie, a black desk, a silver keyboard and a silver computer. This picture almost took itself.

November 17, 2014 - Monday

Day 2 of the B/W challenge. I got my boss the Archer standup. He ordered the Lana for the office. They block the sun really well during this time the year. I was challenged by Karin. I think I'm suppose to challenge someone each day so Jill, you're up.

November 16, 2014 - Sunday

Post a B&W photo everyday for 5 days and challenge someone to do the same. Karin challenged me and now I challenge Arlene. I decided to incorporate this challenge into my photo of the day. I went to get the oil changed in my car this morning.

It's that time of year again. I can't believe these things have lasted so long. They're so warm.

We had all kinds of pastries in the office today. These are so good and always remind me of my first trip to Belgium.

Went to meet a friend for dinner. Our normal meal was a bit of a disappointment so we had dessert. Normally we share a dessert but she looked hungry today and I didn't want to fight. hahaha

November 11, 2014 - Tuesday

I got stuck in traffic under our own little "gateway to the west". I was going to Ft. Worth to celebrate one of my god daughter's birthday. It's always good to see her and spend time with her family.

November 10, 2014 - Monday

I stopped by the grocery store on the way home from work. I made soup in preparation for coming Polar Vortex. This will help keep me warm at work too since for some reason one of our heaters isn't working like it should.

November 9, 2014 - Sunday

Went to go visit my parents. My mom used to not be able to grow anything. She even killed some fake plants. Now she can grow most anything anywhere. These are on her porch.

My little girl is all tired and sleeping like a baby.

November 7, 2014 - Friday

Mom & dad came to town for lunch and to look at cars. By the time I got off work they were at my house with Mom's new wheels. She's so fancy now. I hope she doesn't have a lead foot because this will get her a few tickets pretty easy.

November 6, 2014 - Thursday

It's been a long time since I've had the need for a passport. I've been to Belgium and Paris several times, but that was back when I worked for AA. I was filling out my application for my new book and needed some of the info. I would have posted a picture of my picture in the book but it was bad.

November 5, 2014 - Wednesday

I bought my ticket back from Montreal today. Now I just need to get there. The plan is to drive a moving truck up with Riley and Rane's belonging visit for a while. Have Thanksgiving with them and then fly home. How far north do you have to go to see the Northern Lights? Look I'm an adult.

With the time change and the bad weather today it got dark before I even left work. That's depressing. It wasn't raining very hard when I took this but I liked the rain on the glass and the reflections.

I met a friend for dinner today. He wants some help with a video for his wedding coming up in a couple of weeks. We went back to his house to discuss the ideas with his fiancé. There were flowers on the table.

I was out running some errands and getting some groceries. On the way home I passed these kids playing this. I don't know what it's called but I bet some of the parents would like to play too. Or some crazy, overly protective parents have taken over the kid's soccer league.

What was I thinking....

I don't know. I came up with the photo of the day idea because I was bored and needed something to get me motivated creatively after I got fired. I already enjoyed taking photos and knew this would force me to really open my eyes, looking for moments, subjects or anything to shoot. Some days I don't get my camera out fast enough.

I initially posted my photos as an album on Facebook to share with friends. I started in July of 2010 and went back to my b-day in June. That’s why there are only a few photos in the first month and why it starts in the middle of the year.

Being a web designer building a site just seemed like the next logical step for me after a few months. It was an opportunity to build something new that I hadn't built before and another creative project. My first iteration of the website wa in Flash, but the second time around I wanted it to be accessible on mobile devices too.

I have a couple of photography books I'm working on and this project would help feed the need for content, but more importantly, help maintain a level of creative momentum. The best part - there are NO rules. Everything is valid; the interesting, of course, the silly, because its funny (at least to me) or the mundane, just because.

I try to take a photo every day, but sometimes I don’t. Of course some days I take way more than one. Vacations and events are big occasions though I try not to post photos of family and friends. I didn’t really come to this decision until a little ways into this so you’ll see a few faces in the early months of this project.
