September 29, 2014 - Monday

I looked out my bathroom window and saw something bright red. I have no idea what this is but it appears the magnolia tree has these "pods" that sprout bright red tongues and cause ebola and crazy weather.

September 28, 2014 - Sunday

Went to Greek Fest with a friend. I don't remember what this is called but from the first sip it reminded me of my first time in Paris. I was with a bunch of friends staying at another friend's house. They made a huge bowl of "sangria". After several glasses we went out until the sun came up the next morning.

September 27, 2014 - Saturday

I got up early this morning to go run some errands, one of which was to take Grace to get a bath. She's not a fan, but it's so funny to see how pink she is underneath her fur. This is my first summer with her and her coat is so much thinner now than in the winter.

September 26, 2014 - Friday

I went to the Sprint store today at lunch. I picked up a new iPhone 6. I went over to Whole Foods for a sandwich after. On the way back to the car I took a picture of these flowers out front. There were bees all over but they didn't seem to mind.

September 25, 2014 - Thursday

Went to see my doctor today. My shingles have made my temperature and my blood pressure go up. I think it may have had the same affect on my weight too. I can't think of anything else that could have affected that. Anyways, I paid $35 to be told it looks like its getting better. Thanks.

September 24, 2014 - Wednesday

After a very uncomfortable and completely sleepless night last night, I called in to work today. I haven't done much the last few days around the house because of my shingles. I have been spending some quality time with my Apple TV watching The Sopranos. That was such a good show.

September 23, 2014 - Tuesday

To show my gratitude for the cupcakes she brought in yesterday, I picked up stuff for guacamole for the office today. The selection of avocados at the store wasn't the best and this turned out good, but not great. We all ate it anyway.

September 22, 2014 - Monday

Our new girl in the office has come through again. I think she was feeling sorry for me since I have shingles. I feel sorry for myself too. This stuff is not a joke. On a brighter note, this cupcake had a cream filling in it too. I can't remember the name of the place she gets these but they are so good.

September 21, 2014 - Sunday

I slept in a bit, if that's what you could call it. My shingles are not letting me sleep well at all. I made myself breakfast/lunch and watched the Cowboy game. I did a little bit of house work and Facetimed with Riley for a little while. Not too bad a way to spend the day.

September 20, 2014 - Saturday

The pain I've been feeling in my side for the last few days was worse last night. Kinda had a burning sensation that made it hard to sleep. I woke up and realized I had a rash that turned out to be shingles. My doctor called a prescription for me. I hope this kicks in really soon.

September 19, 2014 - Friday

I found this while walking Grace this morning. When I got to work there was an open parking spot right at the front of the parking garage. I think with a start like this I should probably buy a lottery ticket, but that may be pushing my luck.

September 18, 2014 - Thursday

Riley texted me a bunch of pictures today. She said she went out with her camera for the first time the other day. I really like how the new OS displays pictures in Messages now. My favorite picture is in the middle. Rane has pretty blue eyes too.

September 17, 2014 - Wednesday

After dinner with friends tonight, I decided to come home and take it easy on the couch. I don't know what I did but I feel like someone kicked me in my ribs on my back. It's really sore and a little uncomfortable when I breathe in deeply. I also decided to medicate myself a bit.

September 16, 2014 - Tuesday

The other day while I was walking Grace I found this on the sidewalk. It was on a part that's really dark and the sun was hitting it so it really stood out. I picked it up and put it in my pocket. I found it when I was doing laundry.

September 15, 2014 - Monday

So one of the guys brought in a bunch of good candy for our candy bowl. When it ran out the guy who takes care of all the supplies brought a bunch more. To make matters worse he threw these on my desk. I ate them all.

September 14, 2014 - Sunday

Riley left behind a bunch of books and stuff that she didn't pack and left for me to get rid of. Among the books I found 15 journals??? Why? They were all blank. I took all the other books and DVDs to Half Price Books. It almost covered her luggage fees for her flight.

September 13, 2014 - Saturday

The weather this weekend was amazing. I had the whole house open. I saw this girl walking across my back fence where I see squirrels all the time. By the time I got my camera she was lying on the roof of my garage. She appears do be doing well.

September 12, 2014 - Friday

Over the last few days, I've been finding these all over the house. Now I don't need to leave them where they're  at or put them all in one spot for Riley. Now I can just throw them away.

Don't judge me. My only child moved to another country yesterday.

September 10, 2014 - Wednesday

My parents, Riley's mom and I took Riley to lunch and to the airport today. For the last several days she and I have been bugging each other more than usual and laughing with each other more than usual. Being that it was just the two of us in the house there aren't words for how I'm going to miss her.

September 9, 2014 - Tuesday

For the last several years Riley has talked of taking a year off and traveling and having some experiences before starting school. While it was not originally my first choice for her, I admire her sense of adventure and am happy for the road that's ahead of her. Montreal will be an experience.

September 8, 2014 - Monday

My brother couldn't make it to the get together yesterday, but he did send Riley an amazing going away present.  It is an utter shame that my brother is not making a very good living selling BBQ to a long line of people that I know would show up for these and his brisket. Riley's going to miss these while she's gone.

September 7, 2014 - Sunday

We had a little impromptu going away party for Riley. It was originally just a visit with mom & dad before she leaves for Canada this week, but my family is pretty awesome. A bunch of us met at my sister's house and there was lots of food and a big chocolate cake. I love my big family.

September 6, 2014 - Saturday

I went to spend the day with a friend. The last few times I've gone to visit there's been a piece of paper on the table with my name on it. It's my "to do" list. She's really great at showing her gratitude. She's a good cook so it works out for both of us. I will work for food but it has to be good food.

September 5, 2014 - Friday

So our office is not an all guy office anymore. We have a freelance Art Director that comes in from time to time and a part time Account Service woman that comes in each day for half the day. She really knows how to make friends. It doesn't hurt that she's cute and funny.

September 4, 2014 - Thursday

Riley had to get up early pretty much all week to get stuff ready for her trip. She spent part of the day visiting a friend in the hospital. We came home, had dinner and started to watch a movie. I switched it to football after she fell asleep. I took a nap during the game too.

September 3, 2014 - Wednesday

I spent part of the evening looking over my next road trip. I'll be taking a u-haul with a bunch of Riley and Rane's stuff to them for their apartment. I think I'm going to break it into 3 9-hour days. That won't be too bad. Looking forward to a small vacation in Montreal.

September 2, 2014 - Tuesday

Our original plan was to road trip Riley and her stuff up to Montreal at the end of the month. Well the plans have changed. My baby is flying up next week. I'll still be going up later with her stuff, but my days with Riley in the house are in the single digits. It's all happening too soon.

September 1, 2014 - Monday

Riley's move to Canada is becoming very real now. She was up late packing stuff from her room. She's found a creative way to keep her phone connected to her headphones while keeping the wire out of her way. Who knows what else she might have up there.
