April 30, 2015 - Thursday

While I was at the grocery store the other day I broke down and gave into one of my periodic cravings, Oatmeal Cream Pies. Looking at this now, how did they name this a pie. It's really a sandwich cookie way more than a pie. Moonpies are the same thing. What were they thinking?

April 29, 2015 - Wednesday

After grilling this past weekend I was craving a steak and some grilled corn. I sat on the couch while the corn was grilling. It was such a beautiful day, sunny and breezy.

April 28, 2015 - Tuesday

I went out to have a few drinks and dinner with Little Bunny Foo Foo. We had Greek pizza that was really good. I tried an Old Fashioned too. Not to shabby.

April 27, 2015 - Monday

The weather has been really crazy the last few weeks. I had the house open since the temperature was really nice even though it was really rainy and windy. Grace likes to sit at the back door and look outside. She does not like to go out in the rain though.

April 26, 2015 - Sunday

Got to meet up with a couple of friends for dinner. It's always good to see both of them and get caught up. One of them knew of this frozen yogurt place down the street. Mmmmm.... there's graham crackers at the bottom.

April 25, 2015 - Saturday

I went to a friend's house today to put a grill together. After it was all done we sat outside and had a couple of well earned drinks. She made some really good guac while I was working and then we grilled some fajitas and veggies. Great meal to end the day.

April 24, 2015 - Friday

There's a lot of bugs flying around my house lately. I've notice because I've had my house opened for the last several days. Even though we've had a lot of rain recently the temperatures have been really nice. I was walking in the house after work and this little guy flew right in front of me and landed on my steps.

April 23, 2015 - Thursday

I bought this so I can ride in the HOV lanes. It was a bit shortsighted since now I have to buy a booster seat just so he can be seen.

April 22, 2015 - Wednesday

One of the creatives here at the office really likes Golden Chick. He's young and not completely worried about his cholesterol yet. They have the best yeast rolls. The only reason I took this picture was to send to a friend who hates the word "yeast" like some people hate the word "moist".

April 21, 2015 - Tuesday

I don't like how this implies that I must first complete a "hard day's work" before "deserving" a "good time." Also "a good time" is pretty vague. What constitutes "a good time" or how "good" a time are we talking here? Also how "hard" do I have to work? I push a mouse around for a living. Even on a busy day I wouldn't call it "hard work."

I've been working with Grace to sit still for photos. This is as good as it gets right now. We still have some work to do.

April 19, 2015 - Sunday

Do any of you remember the show Gigglesnort Hotel? I just googled it. I was back to being social today. I had lunch with two good friends and my God Daughter. Mama's Pizza is so good. Then I met a friend for a walk in the park and then a little bit of dinner.

April 18, 2015 - Saturday

Spent the day at home. I've had plans with friends everyday for the last few weekends. It was nice to be home with no plans. I had the house open again since the weather was nice for the early part of the day. I took this when the thunder and lightning came blowing in. My electricity was only out for about an hour.

April 17, 2015 - Friday

Holy cow. I saw this guy again on my way out of the office. He's been my picture of the day before. I was thinking he's gained a lot of weight since the last time I saw him. It's also very likely he was looking at me thinking the exact same thing.

April 16, 2015 - Thursday

I brought a bunch of grapes to the office the other day. The girl here suggested I put some in the freezer. I've heard of freezing grapes and using them to keep your wine cold, but I thought that was just for people who drink slow. These are really good. Like an all natural freezer pop.

April 15, 2015 - Wednesday

This guy was sitting on my fence just outside my window. I was surprised he was still there when got back from getting my camera. Then he just sat there eating while I opened the window and took several photos of him. I guess he was hungry but he never took his eyes off me.

April 14, 2015 - Tuesday

I really liked the last James Bond movie, Skyfall. I saw a list of all the James Bond movies sometime in the last week or so and decided to start watching them from the very first one. It's funny what constituted a fight scene back then. I might have to skip the Pierce Brosnan movies. He sucked as James Bond.

April 13, 2015 - Monday

I have not felt like cooking in forever, so on my way home after running a few errands I stopped at Tony's to pick up dinner. Their tortellini bolognese is so good. One of my errands was picking up treats for Grace so she was eating well tonight too. Not as good as I was though.

April 12, 2015 - Sunday

This is the project I mentioned on Wednesday. My friend's mom made me Chicken and Dumpling for lunch!!! She makes them a whole lot like my mom's. On top of that she sent me home with a bunch for the week along with some dessert. She really knows how to say thank you.

April 11, 2015 - Saturday

I got to spend almost the whole day with my sister and brother-in-law watching their daughter play volleyball. I don't get a chance to see her play as often as I'd like. After all the games we drove up to Sherman for some BBQ. They have a sliced beef and hot link sandwich that's pretty darn good. Their fries were extra crispy. Really fun day.

April 10, 2015 - Friday

We got out of the office a bit early today. I went home and took a quick nap then went to spend the evening at a friend's. I made guac and he made burgers. Then we made guac burgers. They were really good. Ended the evening with with lots of wine and some good cigars.

April 9, 2015 - Thursday

When I came back from Montreal back in December most of my plants had died. I guess we had a freeze while I was gone. My guacamole plant somehow survived and it looks like I'm going to have to start charging this little guy rent.

April 8, 2015 - Wednesday

I have a small pile of redwood in my garage for a project I'm going to be doing for a friend's mom. It's a group of planters that mount on a fence panel. I have a lot of sawdust to make in my garage before I take all this to her house.

April 7, 2015 - Tuesday

This is for all my Eastern Hills Alums. Class of '87. I'm not real OCD about most stuff, but I really wanted to fix the wrinkles in the E. I'm sure if the person who owned this Jeep walked up they'd already be wondering why I'm taking a picture of their back window.

April 6, 2015 - Monday

Almost none of my ideas are what you might consider health conscious. Not that these are really bad, just kind of a lot of sugar. Some things are a little healthier than others. But what my ideas lack in vegetables they more than make up for in calories and and taste. And by the way these were really good. #I'llNeverBeThin.

April 5, 2015 - Sunday

I got these in the mail the other day. So far they've made it out of the envelope and onto my coffee table. At some point they'll make it out into the car and eventually onto the car itself.

April 4, 2015 - Saturday

I had the house open this morning because the weather was so nice. This little guy walked right past me while I was sitting on the couch. I thought he was a rat at first. I scooped him up from behind the TV and fed him some Doritos. They like those. I saw it on Over the Hedge. He and Grace are getting along really well. I've never had a pet possum.

April 3, 2015 - Friday

I went to spend the afternoon with a friend. We started off by having a late lunch on the patio at Zorba's. This was in a planter full of rosemary. I think I've mentioned it before, but in case I haven't the green beans there are amazing. Then the most brilliant thought crossed my mind, Nothing Bundt Cake for dessert!!!

April 2, 2015 - Thursday

I really wanted dessert today after lunch. I didn't get any so after dinner tonight I had this, a single, solitary, little chocolate Jello pudding cup. Chocolate pudding is one of my most favorite desserts. I was jealous when Carl found that big can of pudding in that one episode of The Walking Dead.

April 1, 2015 - Wednesday

I went to meet a friend for dinner. It was really cloudy and looked like it might rain. Traffic got bad at just the right time for me to take this while being stuck in bumper to bumper, stop and go traffic.

What was I thinking....

I don't know. I came up with the photo of the day idea because I was bored and needed something to get me motivated creatively after I got fired. I already enjoyed taking photos and knew this would force me to really open my eyes, looking for moments, subjects or anything to shoot. Some days I don't get my camera out fast enough.

I initially posted my photos as an album on Facebook to share with friends. I started in July of 2010 and went back to my b-day in June. That’s why there are only a few photos in the first month and why it starts in the middle of the year.

Being a web designer building a site just seemed like the next logical step for me after a few months. It was an opportunity to build something new that I hadn't built before and another creative project. My first iteration of the website wa in Flash, but the second time around I wanted it to be accessible on mobile devices too.

I have a couple of photography books I'm working on and this project would help feed the need for content, but more importantly, help maintain a level of creative momentum. The best part - there are NO rules. Everything is valid; the interesting, of course, the silly, because its funny (at least to me) or the mundane, just because.

I try to take a photo every day, but sometimes I don’t. Of course some days I take way more than one. Vacations and events are big occasions though I try not to post photos of family and friends. I didn’t really come to this decision until a little ways into this so you’ll see a few faces in the early months of this project.
