August 30, 2015 - Sunday

I spent the night in Albuquerque last night. It made for a long day of driving, but I had good company. I think this was back in the great state of Texas. There are some really wide open spaces out west. Of course I stopped at a Dairy Queen and picked up the prerequisite Blizzard.

August 29, 2015 - Saturday

Today we, the girls and the dogs, all went to the Grand Canyon for a few hours. It was so much fun with them and the dogs. We had an early dinner and then parted ways around 4p. They're heading for Zion National Park, I'm heading back home with the 3 dogs. It rained a bit and this view in my side view mirror looked nice.

August 28, 2015 - Friday

Riley and Alexe found two little dogs at a park near El Paso. They were thin and covered with ticks. They cleaned them up and took care of them while still making their way through California. I met the girls at a camp ground in Flagstaff to see the Grand Canyon and take the dogs back home while they finish their trip. This is Pancake. Yes, they named them.

August 27, 2015 - Thursday

I'm on my way to meet Riley at the Grand Canyon. The last time I made this trip was 10 years ago with Riley. Now I've got Grace with me on my way to meet her in the middle of her trip. She left here to go to California and then back through the US and on to Montreal. I admire her sense of adventure but that doesn't make me worry less.

August 26, 2015 - Wednesday

I was taking Grace for a walk a little earlier in the evening than usual. This is the building across the street. It looks really cool with all the construction lights at night, but I wasn't going to go out in this heat twice.

August 25, 2015 - Tuesday

I'm planning my next road trip. On the right is home, the two Aleve are Amarillo and Albuquerque, the yellow one is Flagstaff and the orange vitamin on the far left is the Grand Canyon. Grace and I will have fun and we might come back with a couple of new friends.

August 24, 2015 - Monday

I met a friend after work for dinner and dessert. There was a beautiful sunset after the bit of rain and thunder we had. It was nice to not go straight home to an empty apartment. As much as I love my peace and quiet, I already miss the girls being at the house. Looks like I might have a couple of new house guests soon though.

August 23, 2015 - Sunday

This morning Riley and Alexe left for their road trip back to Montreal. I'm actually really jealous that I'm not going on this trip.  I've been to some of the places they're going but they're going to some new ones that I'd really like to see. As a dad, I'm also a bit worried about them. Tonight I'm drowning my sorrows and equally celebrating being on my own again.

I went my friend's house to do some more work on her place. These were my two supervisors. It kind of sucked that they just laid there while I did all the work.

August 21, 2015 - Friday

I have a coworker who has the habit of touching my computer screen while discussing projects. Since I do quite a bit of retouching this is no bueno, I mean it's not a big iPad. I was discussing this over text with a friend who shares my pain. This was her suggestion.

August 20, 2015 - Thursday

For an afternoon snack I had a Snickers Ice Cream bar in spite of the unseasonably cool day we had today. We still have a few ice cream bars left from a couple of weeks ago when our electricity went out and it was uncomfortably warm in the office. On an unrelated note, this reminds me of the Babe Ruth scene in Caddyshack.

August 19, 2015 - Wednesday

Look what happened this morning. I haven't seen anything like this since May I think. Back then we didn't want any more. Now a day or two of this wouldn't be bad at all.

August 18, 2015 - Tuesday

I've been having an issue with my neck and shoulder. I think I slept on it wrong Sunday night. It's beginning to feel better but I still can't look over my shoulder in either direction completely and I'm pretty uncomfortable in general. I'm self medicating a bit this evening.

August 17, 2015 - Monday

Last week I went to lunch with a friend and her two kids. She keeps them occupied by bringing along coloring books and crayons. Each time we meet I get a new picture colored just for me. Riley got a little jealous when she saw this and the photo my friend took of her daughter and I.

August 16, 2015 - Sunday

WHY???? How is it that Riley finds cats no matter where I live. This one has been coming around for a while and when I got home it was on my bed with the girls. Grace was in the other room completely oblivious.

August 15, 2015 - Saturday

I went to a friend's house to help do some more work. We had some errands to run before we got started. We drove over the the northwest side of Ft. Worth and didn't get back to her place until quite late in the day. We ended up not working at all. We did have a few drinks.

August 14, 2015 - Friday

We've started to have a client breakfast once a month at the office. Our first one was today. We had breakfast tacos, a really big container of guacamole, chips and fruit. We didn't have quite the turn out we expected, but it was only our first one. So I had guacamole and chips for lunch.

August 13, 2015 - Thursday

LOOK!!! They opened a Yucatan Taco Stand in Dallas! I haven't had these nachos in forever. I mean years. They've been my photo of the day before, but not for a really long time. These are so delicious and big enough for Riley, Alexe and I to share. We had popsicles down the street after. What a great day!!!

Alexe went to meet Riley at work and did a little shopping. She picked out some really shiny shoes.

August 11, 2015 - Tuesday

Riley and Alexe went to the grocery store and came back with the biggest watermelon Alexe has ever seen. We ended up with two of these containers and a large bowl of watermelon. Fortunately it was a really good, sweet melon.

August 10, 2015 - Monday

So the guy I sit next to at work is 26. He got an email with a pizza deal from Pizza Hut and ordered one for lunch. I can't eat like I'm 26 anymore. At least I shouldn't.

August 9, 2015 - Sunday

I spent the day relaxing. If I had more money than sense I would buy one of these, but since I don't.... Coincidentally, I downloaded this racing game on my iPad a few days ago. I don't play a lot of games on my phone or iPad but this one is really fun. I played it a lot today.

August 7, 2015 - Friday

When I showed up to work this morning we didn't have electricity in our building. Which means no A/C. They didn't get it fixed until a little after 11am. By that time our office was very warm. The building management sent over a bunch of ice cream bars to thank us for our patience. Nice. On top of that we got out of the office around 3p. Nice.

I really didn't remember to take a photo today. Fortunately I took a photo of the Lunch Specials at the cafe in our building and texted it to one of the girls in our office. By the way, I had the nacho supreme. It pretty darn good.

August 5, 2015 - Wednesday

I can't remember why we didn't go out for my birthday at work, but we didn't. It's been rescheduled a couple of times, but we finally made it today. This was right outside the restaurant in the bright, hot sun.

August 4, 2015 - Tuesday

We got up really early to go to a funeral in Ft. Worth. Not knowing how bad traffic would be we ended up getting there quite a bit early. We sat here next to this window in the morning light. I thought it looked so nice and since almost no one was around I discreetly took this photo.

The other day Alexe and I went to Sam's while Riley was at work. We picked up some of these. They're called Pogos where Alexe is from. I don't know if that's all over Canada or just in Quebec. She eats with with mustard and lots of ketchup, weird.

I dropped off Riley and Alexe at Six Flags while I went to a friend's house to do some more work. They were there all day. I stopped to pick them up and took this photo while I was waiting. I remember when the Judge Roy Scream was the new it coaster here.

We all went out to dinner for steaks last night. Alexe had some left over that she graciously donated to this afternoon's brunch.
