July 30, 2016 - Saturday - In spite of still having a bit of a cold, I met a friend for a cooking class. We made these chicken skewers marinated in pesto, grilled balsamic corn and polenta with parmesan. The highlight to me was the melon salad we had for a starter. It was canteloupe, tomatoes and burrata cheese. So good.

July 29, 2016 - Friday - Came home and made this again for dinner. I've been in a bit of a funk cooking. I think most of it has to do with my kitchen. My stove is electric and uneven. I had gas before. Almost none of my pans or cutting boards fit in the sink. I know, first world problems.

July 28, 2016 - Thursday - For the last day or so I've been feeling kinda crappy. I stopped on the way to work and picked up some of this. Coincidentally I had a dr appointment today and they wanted to call it something or other and give me a prescription for something. I don't think a regular cold exists anymore.

July 27, 2016 - Wednesday - Our office went out for another bit of Top Golf. We were considering going somewhere else, but decided not to. It was really hot when we left the office but by the time we got there it was so nice. Great way to spend the afternoon. Way better than working.

July 26, 2016 - Tuesday - I went to a friend's house for her kid's 5th birthday party. She made the cake from Matilda and it was amazing!!! The whole party was amazing. I need to go to more parties with inflatable water slides. They're lots of fun, but I am aching all over today. Worth every minute.

July 25, 2016 - Monday - Yesterday afternoon, after golf, a friend called and invited me to an early dinner. I took a quick shower and got dressed. While I was driving to dinner I noticed what I thought were hairs from Biscuit on my arm. Nope they're mine. I guess I never see the hair on my head or my face. They were still here today too.

July 24, 2016 - Sunday - Even after a long day yesterday, I still got up early to go meet a couple of friends for a little golf. Saying that is seems so misleading. I don't play golf at all. I drive the cart a little, smoke cigars and mix drinks. A little bit of caddying and I take the flag out of the hole when they're putting. Guud Taimes.

July 23, 2016 - Saturday - Today was way overbooked. I got up this morning to help a friend move some flagstone. That was a lot of work. I missed a baby shower because I had the wrong time in my head. Got to a friend's b-day dinner a half hour early and then didn't have it in me to drive to another b-day party. I spent the evening by a friend's pool. Unplanned but fun and relaxing.

July 22, 2016 - Friday - Last night on the way home a car blew past me just as I was changing lanes. His sideview mirror hit mine. I was lucky I saw him at the last minute and my mirror flipped forward. This is all that happened to my car. The plastic on his was broken. I guess we're both lucky it could have been a whole lot worse.

July 21, 2016 - Thursday - I went to meet a friend for dinner and drinks after work. I reintroduced him to Boilermakers.

July 20, 2016 - Wednesday - Spent the evening relaxing on the couch watching TV. We watched a lot of The Dog Whisperer. I'm hoping the dogs learn to be calm even faster like this. hahahaha

July 19, 2016 - Tuesday - For my birthday a friend bought me a cooking class at Central Market. What a really fun time. We made a lamb roast, fried artichokes with aioli, tomato bread pudding, salad with tapenade dressing and a strawberry rhubarb dessert. It was all so good and fun. Lots of wine. The chef made an apple and basil sherbet to go with dessert it was so nice.

July 18, 2016 - Monday - I met a friend for dinner and sangrias. We were doing a little bit of celebrating. I told her she was blocking my light so she did this on purpose. I chose to use it anyway.

July 17, 2016 - Sunday - I went to see mom and see my sister before she heads back to NYC. I meet a friend for dinner after. We grilled some veggies, some salmon and a steak. This turned out just right. She made a great salad with a delicious dressing to go with it. It was a great way to end the weekend but I wish I had another day off.

July 16, 2016 - Saturday - I made another frittata for the first time in forever and I didn't forget a thing. This was one of my better executions with just simple ingredients; tomatoes, cheese, ham, eggs, potatoes, salt, pepper and cayenne pepper. I need to make these more often.

July 15, 2016 - Friday - The group of us from the office all went out to lunch for one of the girl's birthday. She brought us to this new taco place in my old neighborhood. These were really good and the mango margaritas were really good too. It was hard to go back to work and be productive.

July 14, 2016 - Thursday - After seeing one of those silly, short recipe videos on FB I got the idea to try a spicy pasta dish. This has sausage and chicken and cajun spices. This tasted delicious but the consistency was a bit off. I got the cream too hot too quickly. Next time it will be just right.

July 13, 2016 - Wednesday -  I met a friend for dinner. We tried a new Indian place. It was about average, not bad but not great. We did a little shopping after and thought about dessert but ended up not. I picked up a Oreo shake on the way home.

July 12, 2016 - Tuesday - I went to see a friend after work. She had a friend visiting her who had this little guy too. His name is Bear. He was a such a cool, relaxed guy considering he's a Yorkie/Poodle mix. He had the kind of face that looks like he's smiling all the time, but it was hard to get him to look directly at the camera.

July 11, 2016 - Monday - I was craving guacamole last Wednesday. I went to the store to get all the stuff but there were no ripe avocados. They finally ripened over the weekend and we had our afternoon snack. I worked a bit late so this also turned out to be dinner.

July 10, 2016 - Sunday - I went to Ft. Worth with a friend. It's been years since we've shared these nachos. We used to eat them all the time when there was a Yucatan Taco Stand near her. It was a dark day when they closed that location. We try not to talk about anymore. We know there's a closer one in Dallas but we were visiting friends out west.

July 9, 2016 - Saturday - Back in May of 2014 I took a photo of these two at this same restaurant. I was realizing at the time that having a meal with the both of them would be few and far between. I get to see Riley more often now but it always so good to see her with her sister from another mister. Love these two.

July 8, 2016 - Friday - I went to a friend's house for dinner. She was visiting her mom and got a bunch of tomatoes from her garden. So  you know we could only make one thing. Yes its the same thing I've been making for the last couple of months.

July 7, 2016 - Thursday - I drove out to Denton to take Riley out to dinner for her birthday. She turned the Big 2-0. I told her to pick a place so we went to her favorite Pho place despite the fact that it was aroudn 100° outside. It's always fun spending time with her and we went to the candy store too.

July 6, 2016 - Wednesday - My doctor has switched me from Enbrel to Humira. This one I only have to take every two weeks instead of every week with the other. They make this pen more complicated than it needs to be compared to the Enbrel and you don't know when it's done unless you can see in the little tiny window on the side. Not easy when it's in your leg.

July 5, 2016 - Tuesday - Riley and I met at the hospital to see mom. She's taken a bit of a downward turn but it seems to be only temporary. We went to Momma's Pizza after. This pizza is so different from what I normally like but there's just something about it that is sooo good.

July 4, 2016 - Monday - Decided to just stay in and keep resting for this long holiday. I made the same dish I've been making for the last month or so. The better the tomatoes the better the dish tastes. These turned out to be really flavorful.

July 3, 2016 - Sunday - Had a bit of a flare up today so I spent the day resting and watching movies. This is Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. This movie kinda made me mad but it did have some very funny parts to it. Pancake liked it.

July 2, 2016 - Saturday - I got up really early to go "golfing" with the guys from the office. This was crazy early for me but it was a lot of fun hanging out and having a few drinks. Apparently if you get up early enough it's actually really comfortable and breezy. Not bad for July in Texas. Early lunch after wasn't too bad either.

July 1, 2016 - Friday - It was my turn to bring breakfast for the office. I picked up a big tray of Chicken Minis. This was in the drive thru at Chick-fil-a. These poor things. I don't know if they need more water or are just dying slowly, but they look like I feel when I take the dogs for a walk in the afternoon. It's too hot to be picking up dog poop.
