October 30, 2016 - Sunday - Our flight from Philly was delayed quite a bit so we got into Rome much later than we expected. We were dragging but we managed to check in, get dinner and get a cab to the Vatican right around the time the sun was setting. We didn't get to see as much as we would have liked but what we got to see we saw in some really great light.

October 29, 2016 - Saturday - In spite of moving pretty slow, we are still moving. So thankful for the passenger carts that go through the terminals, saved me quite a bit of walking today. We got seriously delayed in Philly but at least I got a cheese steak while we were there. Rome, The Vatican and adjusting to the time change tomorrow. Oh, and lots of wine!

October 28, 2016 - Friday - Today I wanted to amputate my left leg. I had way too much to get done to deal with not walking well. Went to work, the doctor's office, back to work, left a little early, packed up the dogs and drove them out to the country to stay with Dad while I'm gone, came home and packed some more. Took my first ride in a wheelchair today. I'm getting old.

October 27, 2016 - Thursday - In spite of the work we had to do today, I got out to meet a friend for lunch. We ended up working really late for the first time in the more than four years I've been at this agency. Didn't help that I had the beginning of a flare up toward the end of the evening.

October 26, 2016 - Wednesday - Packing and preparing for our trip this coming week. I had to go out and get one of these. Made me feel old. It's bad enough I have to take the meds I do, but to have to take enough and to have to sort them like this is ridiculous.

October 25, 2016 - Tuesday - In our office we could feel and hear impact tremors. We know that those sound like because we all saw Jurassic Park.  The vehicle in front of the red pickup was breaking apart the foundation of what used to be here. I thought this looked like a crater and then it occurred to me there are people around the world who know exactly what those look like.

October 24, 2016 - Monday - I met a friend for dinner after work. During dinner she mentions there's a pie place nearby and how good the pies are. She goes on for a bit and then I ask, "Are they open?", cause she makes it sound so good. Uh..... No. So halfway to walking to the popsicle place we remember this dessert and go back to the car to get one instead.

October 23, 2016 - Sunday - I've been looking forward to this episode for so long. After it was over, I couldn't think of why. I knew someone was going to die and I wanted to know who, but I never thought about how I would feel after finding out. By the end I just felt sick.

October 22, 2016 - Saturday - Went with a friend to see Phantom of the Opera at the Bass Hall in Ft. Worth. That probably would have been the highlight of the night had we not gone over to the Flying Saucer after. We watched a band called Poo Live Crew and laughed so much. They played some of the most random songs from all over the place.

October 21, 2016 - Friday - I was out driving after work and was thinking I hadn't taken a photo for the day. I leaned back in my seat and looked up through my sunroof and saw this. There was a lot more than this but I cropped it this way.

October 20, 2016 - Thursday - I spent the evening on my big comfy couch with Biscuit and Pancake. Pancake curled up on my blanket before I got a chance to use it. I let her lay there for a while but then she had to share.

October 19, 2016 - Wednesday - Got to this patio just as the sun was setting. My friend thought we were meeting tomorrow so this was while I was waiting on the wine and my friend. Love this time of year when its so nice not sitting outside seems wrong.

October 18, 2016 - Tuesday - There's a lady that comes to our office building every Tuesday that shines shoes. A friend and I are going to a show this Saturday and we decided to get a little dressed up, for us at least.

October 17, 2016 - Monday - I drove up to Denton to see Riley. She moved into her first apartment of her own. One she found on her own and picked out on her own. We went out to dinner and did a little shopping for stuff for her place. While driving around I found out she knows most of the words to Cory Hart's Sunglasses at Night.

October 16, 2016 - Sunday - I went to In Sync again with a friend. Our friends that volunteer there gave us a great tour and we got to see them feed the new baby cougars. They chirp just like birds. I think this one is dreaming about snacking on one of the little kids walking around here.

October 15, 2016 - Saturday - Went to a friend's to help do a little yard work and a few little chores around the house. We ended the evening grill some veggies, salmon and a steak. A really great salad with a pesto dressing was also on the menu, though I had to make room on my plate first. We also had some bananas dipped in chocolate for dessert.

October 14, 2016 - Friday -  Today started off kinda rough. My arthritis was not being very cooperative. Work was crazy busy but at least I began to feel better. I went to meet a friend after work. I don't really like driving west into the sun, but the sunsets lately have been really beautiful.

October 13, 2016 - Thursday -  Our Halloween decorations are quite elaborate however a bit understated.

October 12, 2016 - Wednesday -  I went to meet a friend for dinner. The food was good, but the company is always better. The weather these last few days has been so nice. I love driving with the windows down, the sunroof open and the music up loud. My car needs a good washing though.

October 11, 2016 - Tuesday - When I came back from lunch this little one was not finding it's way out the crosswalk. I was going to let it find it's own way out but it was panting pretty bad and making pitiful noises. It gave up in a corner after a couple minutes and let me pick it up. This is where I did the Rutger Hauer scene from the end of Blade Runner and then it flew safely away.

October 10, 2016 - Monday - We do status every Monday to go over all the jobs going on and what's due when. I was sitting against the glass and looked up while waiting for everyone to gather around. I like all the glass we have around our office and actually I could use a little more sleep.

October 9, 2016 - Sunday - When Riley first got her new job she told me she was going to take me out to eat when she got her first check. She took me to Ziziki's for brunch. She really knows how to say "Thank you!" It was good to hear all about the work she's doing and to see her so happy. We also made some more plans for our trip.

October 8, 2016 - Saturday - Got up early this morning to get my hair cut. Then went to my niece's little girl's birthday party. It's always fun to spend time with family. Went out with friends for dinner later and then out for drinks. We were walking back to the car when I took this. The A&M College of Dentistry looks a lot like my shop class from middle school.

October 7, 2016 - Sunday - After all the vegetables yesterday I thought a little bit of dessert was a good idea. A little warm brownie. A little bit of ice cream and a little chocolate syrup. After a night of very little sleep this was a good way to end the day.

October 6, 2016 - Thursday - This is the first thing I've made with a little bit of the basil my friend gave me Monday. I wish the tomatoes were a little sweeter but still not too shabby.

October 5, 2016 - Wednesday - I went to meet a friend for lunch. I haven't seen her in who knows how long. This was sitting on the table outside on the patio. I was waiting outside, she was waiting inside but we finally found each other. She brought me some little chocolate treats too. We need to do this more often.

October 4, 2016 - Tuesday - I went with a friend to a pain management clinic this evening. It was geared more toward stress and injury related pain with chiropractic and massage therapy for relief. In the mean time I could really use a couple of Aleve. I did win some aroma therapy candles so definitely worth the drive.

October 3, 2016 - Monday - I went to see a friend for dinner after work. Her basil is growing like crazy. She made a spaghetti with a simple sauce with lots of basil. She gave me a big bunch to take with me. What to make.....

October 2, 2016 - Sunday - Today I was driving south to go spend some time with the family. We had a a family breakfast at my sister's and then I went to do some tech support at dad's and to watch the Cowboy game. We went out for dinner at half time. Fortunately the restaurant had the game on.

October 1, 2016 - Saturday - I drove up to north to spend some time with Riley and help her with an oil change and a nail in her tire. I started by getting a really good chicken biscuit and a new pair of sunglasses. Had a good evening. A friend drove up to join us for dinner and a drink later.
