August 31, 2018 - Friday - Spent the evening relaxing and watching TV. It's been a while since I didn't have something I needed to work on. At some point in the evening out of the corner of my eye I saw something moving across the floor. When I got closer it was this little guy. Probably not more than an inch long.
August 29, 2018 - Wednesday - I spent most of the day working on the video project that I picked up yesterday. I did take a bit of a break to go visit my cousin and pick up some eggs for a friend I'm going to see tomorrow. I think it's funny how these are all different sizes and shades.
August 28, 2018 - Tuesday - Today I didn't have a job to go to, but I did have to go into Dallas to pick up some files for a project to work on. It was a good morning, Dad, my sister and I had lunch together and it worked out that I got to have dinner with Riley and Wally before heading home from Dallas. I got this photo just down the street from the zebra and camels.
August 27, 2018 - Monday - I haven't kept up with this show for a while now so I started watching it from one of the middle seasons. Dad walked in and said, "You're watching cartoons???" then someone on the show said something horribly inappropriate and he said, "Wow, that's not a kid show at all." Not at all but it is really funny.
August 26, 2018 - Sunday - I spent a little time with my brother today working on his fence in the front of his property. He told me to stand in the open space of the fence to make sure the cows wouldn't get out. There's this small pile of hay right near where I was standing and they all came running up to it. Fortunately they stopped there. I was a little worried for a bit.
August 25, 2018 - Saturday - My mom loved Crepe Myrtles. She has these deep red ones around the house and a few white ones too. Looking out the kitchen window today I saw this one glowing in the afternoon sun. It was two years ago yesterday that she passed. My dad and I talk about her practically every day still.
August 24, 2018 - Friday - Most of my work day got cancelled today. I was able to go into the office and get some work done and be finished for the day by lunch. I did some shopping for a friend and some clerical work for myself. More importantly it all worked out that I could spend the evening with a friend and his family relaxing with one of these.
August 23, 2018 - Thursday - I stopped by Home Depot and the grocery store on the way home so I got home little later than usual. This is one of the neighbors on the other side of us. I thought this one looked nice in the evening sun.
August 22, 2018 - Wednesday - On my way home this evening I stopped along the way to take a photo of these horses enjoying their evening meal in the setting sun. I wonder if they're as happy about the lower temperatures as I am. It's nice to get out of the car to take a photo and not start sweating instantly.
August 21, 2018 - Tuesday - Today after work I had plans to meet a couple of friends for dinner. Sitting in traffic on my way I took this just as I was about to pass under Klyde Warren Park. It's been too long since the three of us have had a chance to all sit down together and share a meal and lots of laughs.
August 20, 2018 - Monday - I don't remember much from this day. I've not slept well for the last couple of days because of my shoulder. I know I worked half a day but not much more than that. I also didn't take a photo until the end of the evening when I had some of this watermelon that my cousin brought over.
August 19, 2018 - Sunday - Woke up this morning thinking of the frittata I was going to make for breakfast. To be honest sometimes I try to find something to photograph early in the day so I don't have to think of it any more the rest of the day. I'm having a little bit of an issue with my left shoulder so I have nothing but a nap planned for the rest of the day.
August 18, 2018 - Saturday - I made a pork loin and roasted potatoes for dinner tonight for the family. My sister-in-law made some zucchini for another side. This turned out really good though I think next time I need to cook it a little slower so it's a bit more tender.
August 17, 2018 - Friday - I was at NorthPark for a little while today. They have a car show going on. I saw the Jaguar SUVs those are kinda nice. I passed a few others but this McLaren was parked just outside the store I was shopping at. I took a few moments to take a few photos.
August 16, 2018 - Thursday - The people near our place that have camels and llamas have recently acquired a baby zebra. They have goats, pigs, horses (big and little) dogs and camels all wandering around together. They also have a couple of dogs, one a Great Pyrenees that came and barked at me while I was taking this.
August 15, 2018 - Wednesday - I went out to dinner with Riley, Wally and Rane after work so I was heading home a little later than usual. I was hoping to get to a particular spot hoping to get a good photo of the sun going down, but heading down the highway I realized I wasn't going to make it. I pulled over and walked into a recently cut down cornfield and took this.
August 14, 2018 - Tuesday - I worked a little late this evening and then got stuck in traffic on the way home. I stopped for gas at a Kroger and picked up some more fruit. I was thinking about Caprese Salad on the way but by the time I stopped for gas and groceries I really just wanted to get something quick. I resisted and had fresh tomatoes from my brother's garden. So worth it.
August 13, 2018 - Monday - I have been craving these street tacos for a while. I made the mistake of working through lunch and not eating until 2p. By that time I wanted to order a dozen of these, but I settled for three. I was a bit sad when I was done. Fortunately, I had fresh cherries for an snack later. I've got to find a good place in Burleson that makes these.
August 12, 2018 - Sunday - Went to meet my friend and my God-daughter. My friend likes all kinds of games, things you're not going to find on the shelves at Target. Some are way too complex to even be called a "game" in my opinion. I don't remember the name of this one but it was lots of fun! Regardless getting to see, and spend time with them is all ways a good time.
August 11, 2018 - Saturday - I spent pretty much the entire day working from home. I stopped by the grocery store on the way home yesterday and picked up stuff to make a few different meals. Yes, guacamole is a meal. It was my late lunch/early dinner and it was delicious. It was also a good break in the day doing something other than sitting in front of my laptop.
August 10, 2018 - Friday - I've been working this week at the place that let's their employees bring their dogs to work. I was giving this puppy, Waylon a good belly rub while taking this photo. He was completely focused on the camera strap dangling in front of him. I also made friends with a little skittish Chihuahua/MinPin mix named Sophia.
August 9, 2018 - Thursday - The clouds really opened up today! It rained a little on my drive into Dallas, but nothing like the downpour that happened once I got north of I-20. I took this while I was still in Cedar Hill and the road was pretty empty around me. I thought the odd shaped rings in the cloud looked interesting.
August 8, 2018 - Wednesday - Got home a little late this evening. Did some more work once I got home. I haven't been sleeping well for a week or so and it's really catching up to me. Especially after working as much as I have. I'm not saying my work is hard work but it does take some mental focus. At least I didn't cut myself when I chopped this apple.
August 7, 2018 - Tuesday - Driving home a little later than usual today I stopped to take this photo. Fortunately it's not as hot as it has been the last few weeks. It will be fall soon and I'm looking forward to the cooler weather and football season.
August 6, 2018 - Monday - This truck pulled right out of the field on to the road in front of me as I was driving into work today. This is freshly cut corn stalks all bundled together. Driving behind it was like being in a tornado of dead straw. It was even worse once we got onto the highway. Glad I didn't have to sweep up behind this truck.
August 5, 2018 - Sunday - I was walking over to my brother's for dinner. Several of his cows were in the pasture between our houses. This is Snookie, she's a big fat Jersey cow. She was named by my niece who informed me she's not technically a Jersey cow but only looks like Jersey cow. No other's are named after anyone from that show.
August 4, 2018 - Thursday - First the good news, my sister picked up two of these whoopie pies for me earlier in the week. The bad news, the Country Store moved even farther away. It's now an hour drive round trip to get these. The second part of the bad news is my sister wanted me to share one of them with her.
August 3, 2018 - Friday - These last two weeks have been like a full time job. Not that I'm complaining about the work, I really just push a mouse around all day, but it has been relentlessly busy. Today to celebrate the completion of the three big projects we've been working on I made some guacamole for the office. I also enjoyed a bottle of Pacifico.
August 2, 2018 - Thursday - I did some grocery shopping earlier in the week and picked up lots of fruit. I try to have at least two pieces/servings of fruit a day along with vegetables in some form or another. Supposedly cherries are supposed to be good for inflammation, but whether they are or not I really like fresh cherries.
August 1, 2018 - Wednesday - 12 years ago Riley and I were on our first road trip. On this particular day we did a little sight seeing at the M&M Store in Vegas and then took the long, long drive from Vegas to Tahoe. There was practically nothing but desert between those two cities.
