March 30, 2018 - Friday - Spent part of the evening with my brother hanging out by his smoker. This is part of the secret to his really great brisket.  It was starting to get a little cool outside so it was nice to sit near the firebox. Stuck around to sample some of the sausage he had in there too.

March 29, 2018 - Thursday - It's about 130 yards from my dad's door to my brother's door if you cut across the pasture using the gates. If you want to get some extra steps in you can walk around the fences. It's about 250 yards that route. I took this walking the scenic route. I'm trying to walk more since I'm definitely eating more.

March 28, 2018 - Wednesday - I stayed in Dallas to do some freelance work and to have dinner with friends. It's been a really long time since the three of us got together for dinner. There was lots of catching up to do. After dinner I went to see Riley at work and to get some ice cream before driving back out to Burleson.

March 27, 2018 - Tuesday - I went back into Dallas to visit my friend and her cool dog, Oliver. It's really nice to relax on the couch with this guy. He just likes to lie on the couch and be petted.

March 26, 2018 - Monday - This is my cousin's dog, Bowie. My cousin has been living with my dad while he's remodeling his own home. Dad started calling Bowie, Dog, from a John Wayne movie and it kinda stuck. They have called him Dog for so long he now responds to that as well as his real name. Nice having a dog around again.

March 25, 2018 - Sunday - I unpacked my pots today. I did some grocery shopping yesterday too. I made some apple cinnamon oatmeal for my dad and I for breakfast. He has a gas stove!!! I really dislike cooking on electric stoves. It's so nice to cook on a gas stove again.

March 24, 2018 - Saturday - It didn't take long for me to start doing some cooking at my dad's place. I still hadn't unpacked all my kitchen stuff that I did bring with me so I had to use my dad's knife. That was disappointing. I need to get my good knife unpacked so this won't take so long. Still turned out good though.

March 23, 2018 - Friday - Came across this documentary called Jane. I don't have my tv set up yet so I watched it on my laptop. I don't think I've ever seen Jane Goodall when she was young. She was really a pretty young lady. I also had no idea she had no education or experience when she went to observer the chimps. Great documentary.

March 22, 2018 - Thursday - Country Life!!! My brother and cousin have decided to raise chickens again. They've only had these for a month or so. We should be having fresh eggs in a few more months. I'm looking forward to that but I hope this doesn't mean there will be a rooster crowing at the crack of dawn too.

March 21, 2018 - Wednesday - I had a interview today. I got there a bit early so I went for a little walk around the building to kill time. It's such a beautiful day out. There was a row of big pots along the way full of these flowers. I thought they looked so bright and cheerful in the sunlight. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

March 20, 2018 - Tuesday - Went to my apt today to do a final cleaning. I forgot I had a few boxes in the storage closet on the patio. Going through one of them I came across this birthday card from my Godmother. She passed a year ago yesterday. I guess she wanted me to know she was thinking of me.

March 19, 2018 - Monday - My brother has had this tree growing in his front yard for quite a few years. It's called a "fruit cocktail" tree and supposedly it grows plums, peaches and some other fruit. I've never seen any fruit on it at all. He says it produces fruit but they're pretty small and fall from the tree really quickly. I'll be keeping an eye on it this Spring.

March 18, 2018 - Sunday - A bunch of family came out to help me move today. One of the best things about this move is being near so much of my family and getting to see them so much more often. Once I had all my stuff moved in some of us went out to dinner. There's a place not too far that makes really good swirls.

March 17, 2018 - Saturday - I came across this sticky note while I was packing. About 8-10 years ago a friend's little girl was in the office with her and when I came back to my desk there was a Coke with this note on it. She's such a sweet kid and still is. It also reminded me of a girl I went to high school with. Her last name was Bott.

March 16, 2018 - Friday - Today I really got serious about packing. My lease is up and after 6 months of part-time employment and then 3 months of being unemployed, I'm moving out to the country to keep my dad company for a while. For whatever reason I would always put corks into this small dish on my counter. It was getting full so I guess it's time to move on.

March 15, 2018 - Thursday - I have a friend who really likes ice cream. We had dinner tonight and I talked her into trying Riley's new place. It wasn't too difficult to persuade her. This was so good and not too sweet. It has fresh strawberries mixed in. This place has me craving ice cream. That has never really happened.

March 14, 2018 - Wednesday - Last night I ordered Chinese food. I opened my fortune cookie today and I'm not sure what I would choose right now if I had a choice, an arthritis med that worked or a new job that paid really well. Actually I think I'd be really happy with my old job back.

March 13, 2018 - Tuesday - I got home a little late this evening and downloaded the new Star Wars movie. It's really long, but at least it's entertaining. I watched it while I was doing some packing and purging.

March 12, 2018 - Monday - Riley got a new job at another ice cream place. I'm not a huge fan of ice cream, cakes are more my thing, but this place has turned that around. I still like cake as much as ever, but I really like this ice cream. They make it right in front of you with liquid nitrogen with lots of flavors to choose from.

March 11, 2018 - Sunday - I found a recipe for Chicken Cacciatore a while back and decided to give it a try. I can't believe how sweet this turned out. I guess it's from the yellow and orange bell peppers. I think this should be served over a bed of rice or something like that.

March 10, 2018 - Saturday - Yesterday I started having issues with my left ankle, knee and elbow. It wasn't horrible but it was pretty aggravating so I ended up ordering dinner instead of cooking. I included dessert in my order. I had quite a bit of leftovers. I had a bit more dessert tonight.

March 9, 2018 - Friday - Had the day off today. I picked up lots of fruit the last time I went to the grocery store. This was my breakfast today.

March 8, 2018 - Thursday - Went in to the office today for some freelance work. The guy sitting next to me mentioned he wanted to try the pho place I'd told him about near us. We went for lunch today. It was as good as it always is.

March 7, 2018 - Wednesday - Met a friend for dinner at one of our favorite places. We haven't been here in quite a while. I love Greek and Mediterranean food; domades, hummus, kalamata olives and spanikopita. It was a night of great wine, food and conversation.

March 6, 2018 - Tuesday - Someone lost a shoe. This was in the parking lot and from the location I guess it was under a car. I don't know why lost shoes are so funny to me.

March 5, 2018 - Monday - This was a bit of an experiment. Well the chicken was experimental. The potatoes I've made a few times. I read a recipe a long time ago that marinated chicken in Greek yogurt and seasonings. Getting these to come out of the oven at the same time was the hard part but they both turned out so good.

March 4, 2018 - Sunday - Riley came by today. We went to Bobo China for a late lunch. I've ordered some Chinese food a couple of times from a place that delivers to my apt but it is nowhere near as good as the food from Bobo. I miss living behind this place and being able to walk out my back gate here.

March 3, 2018 - Saturday - One of my dear friends is moving to Austin. There was a going away party for her tonight. Of course there was food and drink involved as well. Now I have another reason to go visit Austin from time to time. The margharita pizza was really good.

March 2, 2018 - Friday - I got out of the office early and after talking to one of the guys about street tacos for a while I knew what I was getting for a late lunch. These are so good and totally hit the spot.

March 1, 2018 - Thursday - The girl that cuts my hair has been cutting it since Riley was 3 or 4 years old. She started in a little salon space she rented. Several years ago she moved into her own salon. A couple of years ago she moved into a bigger place that does manicures and pedicures. I've never had one but I can't imagine going to anyone else.
