December 30, 2020 - Wednesday - Today I got out for the first time in a while. I had lunch with a friend and then did some grocery shopping. I did some more old movie watching with Zak and the girls on the couch. I watched Wuthering Heights tonight. Cathy was a trifling ho and Heathcliff had some serious issues too. They deserved each other.

December 29, 2020 - Tuesday - Tonight I watched John Wayne's first western with director John Ford. I'm not sure how old he was but he's much younger than any other movie I've seen him in. This is one of the better westerns I've seen. For whatever reason I've started watching old westerns occasionally. I guess it makes me think of my dad.

December 28, 2020 - Monday - I was scrolling through my photos on my phone and was looking at the section From My Mac. This is the section of "people" I've tagged in all my photos. I've tagged lots of family and friends. For some reason three of the top four listed in the People section are pets.

December 27, 2020 - Sunday - Since I've gone back to watching movies from the 30's I've finally gotten to the first Disney movie, Snow White. I was in Disneyland years and years ago and I have a photo of myself in front an enlarged pencil of this scene. I was posing in front of Dopey. It's one of my favorite photos of myself.

December 26, 2020 - Saturday - The new Wonder Woman movie was released yesterday on HBO Max. I wasn't a big fan of the first one but it was okay. Plus Gal Gadot is really easy on the eyes if not completely distracting, but an old guy in a suit??? It was a Scooby Doo ending. This new movie is worse. I'll keep my opinions and spoilers to myself.

December 25, 2020 - Friday - Our family's Thanksgiving was "less than" and so is our Christmas plans. Usually we have our big gift exchange on Christmas Eve. Since all that was canceled Riley and I decided to make our own Christmas dinner. She actually did most of the work since that's what she does. We had spaghetti and meatballs. It was really good.

December 24, 2020 - Thursday - After getting enough suggestions from my streaming apps I decided to include the 30's too. There are so many good movies in that decade. I started watching the original King Kong and was surprised at how well it holds up right until you see King Kong. Then it's really dated.

December 23, 2020 - Wednesday - I got a few more tomatoes from my cherry tomato plant today. There's still quite a few green tomatoes on my plant. I've gotten way more tomatoes from this plant since the summer than before. I think this coming Spring I'll get started a little earlier so maybe I'll get better at this growing stuff.

December 22, 2020 - Tuesday - A long while back I saw Godiva Café started making chocolate waffle croissants. The photo looked amazing. I had one last year while in NYC and it was okay. With my newly acquired waffle maker I decided to give it a go myself. These are amazing!!! Crispy, warm, chocolaty, the best thing you can make in two minutes!

December 21, 2020 - Monday - While watching old movies on most of my streaming apps I get suggestions for other movies. For the most part I don't pass up a Jimmy Stewart movie. This is The Shop Around the Corner. This is the only other movie I've ever seen the wizard from Wizard of Oz in. You've Got Mail is kind of a remake of this.

December 20, 2020 - Sunday - I started the day making a frittata and mimosas. Then I got the stew started. I ended the day at my friend's smoking a cigar, having a drink and sitting by the fire pit. Great way to end weekend. We were going to watch Die Hard for Christmas but we ended up watching something else that I can't remember now.

December 19, 2020 - Saturday - Today we celebrated my oldest sister's birthday. Unfortunately we couldn't have a big gathering so my niece's organized a drive by surprise parade for her. It was cool to drive by and see the surprise on her face. It was also really good to see other family that I've not see in a really long time.

December 18, 2020 - Friday - I met a friend for lunch near my friend with the new puppy. We had pho at a new place that was almost as good as our usual place. After lunch I went to visit my friend. I went out back and threw the ball for her poodle, Sophia and played with Winston a little bit too. He's learning fetch too.

December 17, 2020 - Thursday - I met a friend for dinner at a Peruvian place. I order a beer for the first time in a long while. I got a Christmas edition Heineken. Dinner was pretty good too. Sad how empty this place was.

December 16, 2020 - Wednesday - I wasn't too busy today with work so I got on HBO Max and found this one. It's not on my list because it was from 1938. It's Bringing Up Baby with Katherine Hepburn, Cary Grant and a pet leopard. It's really silly but pretty funny. One thing I've noticed about watching old movies is you really got to take into account when they were made.

December 15, 2020 - Tuesday - I took Zak out this morning and I noticed a bunch of my cherry tomatoes are almost ripe. I think I've collected more tomatoes this fall than I did in the Spring. This is the third handful I've collected in the last several days. There's still a bunch of green tomatoes on the plant. I don't know if they'll ripen before it gets too cold.

December 14, 2020 - Monday - I remember as a kid we watch the Charlie Brown holiday shows, the Rudolph Christmas shows, The Wizard of Oz and The Ten Commandments once every year the one time they were broadcast each year. As I kid I didn't realize that was Vincent Price back there.

December 13, 2020 - Sunday - I brought back dad's album of old photos he showed me last week. This is his reel to reel he bought in Japan. I remember him playing his old reels on it for me when I was little. This is where I was introduced to a lot of great jazz, but I remember most Ray Charles's Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music. Lots of great music on that one.

December 12, 2020 - Saturday - Today I went to my friend's for our annual Christmas Ornament shopping day. This is my first time meeting her new girl, Grace. I really like her name and it took her a few minutes to warm up to me but we were friends by the time we left for lunch.

December 11, 2020 - Friday - Pancake doesn't watch TV too much anymore. She'll react to something here and there but hardly any at all. Tonight we watched Old Yeller and she was pretty entranced. She didn't react to the action like she used to but she did watch pretty much the whole thing.

December 10, 2020 - Thursday - When I would get tired of watching old movies and believe me it happens, I would watch The Queen's Gambit. It was a really interesting show. I think the thing I liked the most was the effect of the chess pieces on the ceilings. I felt bad for this girl having to have that haircut for the first few episodes.

December 9, 2020 - Wednesday - I finished up with work a little early and went to see a friend today. We decided to go out to the park since the weather was so nice. Just as we were making our way on the trail this little guy caught my attention. When I stopped to take his photo he ran up a little farther into his tree without taking his eyes off us.

December 8, 2020 - Tuesday - So I've seen Rear Window quite a few times. Yes, Grace Kelly is a beautiful woman, but quite a while back I went to see this at a theater and she is incredibly gorgeous on a big screen.

December 7, 2020 - Monday - This is another Disney movie that I saw as a kid but didn't have much of an attachment too. I really only remember the Tinkerbell sprinkle at the beginning of the Disney movie of the week that we would watch together as a family when I was little. I think it's funny now how jealous she was of Wendy.

December 6, 2020 - Sunday - Friday night was the coldest I've ever spent outside. Zak's water bowl was frozen when we got out yesterday morning. Last night was much warmer. I also figured out it's better to give Zak his own blanket than try to share blankets with him. He doesn't know how to rollover or move without taking all the blankets with him.

December 5, 2020 - Saturday - While we were sitting around the fire today Dad brought out a photo album he said he remembered having but didn't know what happened to. I'd never seen it before and I thought I saw all of his old photos. This one was full of photos from his time on the aircraft carrier, USS Yorktown. He was about 20 years old just before his time in Vietnam.

December 4, 2020 - Friday - Today I was able to wrap up work around lunchtime. I decided to go out to dad's and camp with Zak for the weekend. There's a ton of firewood and branches from all his oaks that needs to be burned. I got out there set up my tent and settled in for the weekend. I must admit as much as I like Jack and their Single Barrel, I'm not as big a fan of this.

December 3, 2020 - Thursday - I've seen Roman Holiday quite a few times. Audry Hepburn is just adorable. I wonder what ever happend to this guy in the wife beater. For the rest of his life he was probably only famous for having a small part in this movie and getting to kiss her on the lips. I'd be okay with that too.

December 2, 2020 - Wednesday - After going back to the 40's to watch a couple of Disney movies I picked back up where I left off in the 50's. Tonight I watched The African Queen. It's throwing me off a bit because a couple of the movies I watched lately have been colorized versions. The Snows of Kilimanjaro was in color too but look kinda fake.

December 1, 2020 - Tuesday - I ordered a waffle maker the other day to make waffles with leftover stuffing. They are amazing if you like the crusty bits of stuffing. Tonight I made regular waffles for the first time. This is my second waffle ever. The first one was a mess. Not enough batter. This one turned out almost perfect. They tasted delicious.
