January 30, 2021 - Saturday - I went to see a friend today after lunch. She's been working in her garage a lot lately. She was showing me all her work and her big collection of tools. She has her grandfather's work tool chest from before he retired. It was full or really old tools and has that smell of an old toolbox, that oily, rusty metal smell. Reminded me of some dad's tools.

January 29, 2021 - Friday - Today I went to see my doctor for a checkup. The girl drawing blood was kinda new at it. I don't think she's ever seen someone bleed like this. I know I haven't. We both stayed calm. Hahaha. She did a good job. It didn't hurt or anything and it only left a small bruise. I've definitely had worse experiences.

January 28, 2021 - Thursday - Today I spent a big chunk of the day making this hummingbird fly. I got a new project this morning to create a social video with this hummingbird. I wasn't exactly sure how I was going to do it but I had some other work to do before I could get started. It gave me some time to figure it out in my head before I began.

January 27, 2021 - Wednesday - I'm finally in the 70's. I've been looking forward to watching this one. This has to be one of the best opening scenes in any movie. "Give this to Clemenza. I want reliable people. People that aren’t going to get carried away. I mean we’re not murderers, in spite what this undertaker says."

January 26, 2021 - Tuesday - I came across a quite a few more Chaplin movies. I watched a couple of the shorter ones today. This is A Dog's Life from 1918. It's funny that wanting a pet dog and caring for them hasn't changed too much in the last 100 years. Pancake watched this for a little while too.

January 25, 2021 - Monday - This is the original Italian Job. It only has some minor similarities to the newer version from 2003. In this movie they had some really great cars and they trashed all three of them. What a shame all three of these got smashed and thrown over the cliff down into the river.

January 24, 2021 - Sunday - With the weather being a bit cooler lately I decided to make this simple soup because it's quick and easy. I spent a lot of the last couple of days working on a video for work. It was nice to be able to throw all this in a pot and let it do it's thing. It turned out to be one of my better batches. It was a great dinner with lots of leftovers.

January 23, 2021 - Saturday - I went to meet a friend and his daughter for lunch. It's always good to see him and get to spend a little time with one of my God Daughters. The weather was getting very blah by the time I was making my way home.

January 22, 2021 - Friday - I'm almost done with movies from the 60's. I didn't really care for this one. Maybe it was the soundtrack, but I did think it was funny that the older woman was so frustrated and this was the guy she chose to start an affair with.

January 21, 2021 - Thursday - I went to see a friend and get dinner. We decided to splurge and get one of these again. It's delicious and ginormous. We had a great dinner too. It was good to get out of the house and see a friend I've not seen in quite a long while.

January 20, 2021 - Wednesday - Regardless of what else happens in a day this will always make the day a good day on some level. Not to mention the company was pretty cool too. I need to find a way to make this happen maybe twice a week at least. I'm convinced it medicinal as well. I don't need no stinkin' vaccination!

January 19, 2021 - Tuesday - I took a break from old movies for the night. I think it was my sister that recommended Togo. Pancake doesn't watch TV much anymore but she was all involved in this one. She stayed pretty calm except when the dogs were in distress. Then she would run up to the TV and bark. Zak finally learned to ignore her.

January 18, 2021 - Monday - I spent most of the day with a friend doing a shoot for one of his friends. It was a fun day with delicious subject matter. We ended the evening at the grill. I have to say he has mastered grilling wings and his wife makes the best sauces. These were so good especially out by the fire pit. I even brought some home for Riley. She's a fan now too.

January 17, 2021 - Sunday - Today I watched Splendor in the Grass. I don't really understand why Natalie Wood become such a big movie star. I've not seen too many of her movies yet either. I don't know who this is but Warren Beatty hooked up with her and I see why. She's way prettier.

January 16, 2021 - Saturday - I think Grace Kelly might be my new favorite actress. She's just gorgeous. I watched High Society tonight. It's a remake of the Katherine Hepburn/Cary Grant movie The Philadelphia Story from 1940. I guess Hollywood has been recycling movies since the beginning. You should watch the original Scarface from 1932.

January 15, 2021 - Friday - I saw this once a very long time ago and didn't remember it well. I was surprised that this happened so early in the movie and so much is what happens after. Also who gets in the shower before they turn the water on??? Was there instant hot water in the 50's motels?

January 14, 2021 - Thursday - I have my list of movies that I'm watching and I'm back in the 50's. I do really like some of the horror movies from this time. This is one of the better ones. I thought both Steve McQueen and the actress opposite him both looked way to old to be in high school.

January 13, 2021 - Wednesday - Tonight was a good night. The three of us have not been able to meet for dinner since March. It was really good to get together, get caught up and have all the laughs we've been missing out on. It doesn't hurt this is one of my favorite places to eat too.

January 12, 2021 - Tuesday - Tonight for the first time I watched Gone with the Wind. Scarlett was a complete spoiled brat in the beginning. I wonder if women in the South back then were really like that. I was surprised Rhett Butler's famous line wasn't until the very end of the movie.

January 11, 2021 - Monday - I've spent a lot of time in front of the TV this new year. I'm still working my way through my list of movies. Tonight Pancake decided to keep me company. She'll usually lay next to me along my leg but tonight I guess she wanted the extra warmth of my laptop. She's a little spoiled sometimes.

January 10, 2021 - Sunday - So many of us across North Texas were preparing for lots of snow today. I know I was excited. I was pretty disappointed that in spite of the amount of snow we got none of it stuck. It was funny to see Zak be so hesitant to go outside when it was snowing. He's such a big chicken.

January 9, 2021 - Satruday - I was invited over to my friend's house today. They had a few neighbors over for dinner. The lady of the house really outdid herself with dinner. We had ceviche as an appetizer and considering I don't like fish usually this was amazing. The little bit of sweet potato and habanero pepper really added a little something something to this.

January 8, 2021 - Friday - I was able to wrap up things with work early today. I was able to meet a friend for a late lunch and then go out to dad's to see his almost completed man cave. It's been years in the making and he's so close to being done. It's good to see him being active still doing after all these years.

January 7, 2021 - Thursday - I very rarely watch YouTube on a computer or phone. I do watch a lot on my Apple TV. I came across a video of Bo Jackson highlight video and I had forgotten how impressive that guy really was. It always painful to see that one tackle that ended his career. Talk about what could have been.

January 6, 2021 - Wednesday - I got out for a meeting today before lunch and ended up getting pho with my friend and coworker. I took a photo of my pho for today's photo,  but ended up going out to pick up dinner in my old neighborhood. I sure do miss being able to walk out my back door and come here.

January 5, 2021 - Tuesday - I need to go grocery shopping again. I'm out of bread now, eggs, tomatoes and this was my last avocado. This was still good though. Just much more simple than I'm used to.

January 4, 2021 - Monday - I decided to take a break from old movies and started Cobra Kai. I've been seeing a lot of comments about it on social media and thought I'd give it a shot. I'll say so far it's interesting enough to keep watching but it's really just a pissing contest  with most issues that could be resolved with a simple conversations.

January 3, 2021 - Sunday - Today was a good. Riley and I got to see a friend's daughter that I've known since she was eight. She's 22 now. It's been a long time since I've seen her and much longer since Riley saw her. She made some of her famous cookies and brought a big bundle of them for me. I've not had these in many, many years. They're amazing.

January 2, 2021 - Saturday - Breakfast this morning was really good. I finally got out the other day and picked up some avocados. I was torn between making guacamole and saving them for toast with eggs. I made some guac not too long ago and Riley actually liked it. She usually doesn't like guac but she liked mine since I make it with lots of lime.

January 1, 2021 - Friday - Starting the year off right! None of that black-eyed peas stuff for me. It's Waffled Croissants stuffed with dark chocolate for lots of good luck and good fortune for the rest of the year. Part of me wishes I had never tried these. The last thing I need is to eat this much butter, but damn if these aren't quick, simple and delicious!
