July 31, 2021 - Saturday - So this happened last night. I've not made this Greek Chicken Pasta in forever, but Riley wanted it before she left. It takes a while to make this but fortunately my arthritis was not bothering me too much tonight. I need to make this more often.
July 30, 2021 - Friday - I order some S'mores Cookies before they were gone. They were July's Cookie of the Month at Sparkle All Over. They were delivered this afternoon just in time to be the perfect afternoon snack. I ordered the 50/50 box to get some Cinnamon Roll cookies too.
July 29, 2021 - Thursday - Today was a pretty long day working. I spent almost all of it working on social elements for Nothing Bundt Cake. I am definitely making up for being gone last week.
July 28, 2021 - Wednesday - I saw the trailer for the upcoming Soprano's movie, The Many Saints of Newark. Just hearing the theme song made me want to at least watch some of the show. I have it on in the background while I'm doing stuff around the house. I've seen it enough to know what's going on without seeing all of it.
July 27, 2021 - Tuesday - Breakfast this morning for me and pups. I share a little bit of my breakfast with them almost every day. I have never been one to give my dogs people food but either I'm getting soft in my old age or it's something about Zak's face that I can't deny.
July 26, 2021 - Monday - Today was my first day back at work and boy was I busy. I worked a bit later than I hoped but when I was done I got in the kitchen to make some chocolate chip buttermilk pancakes. These turned out so good. These should be enough for the three of us. Fat stacks, Yo! I've been watching Breaking Bad lately.
July 25, 2021 - Sunday - Zak was pretty excited to see me but I think he was a bit upset that I smelled like Yogi and Doja. He still spent most of the day right on my lap. I sure did miss this guy. Riley says he spends most of the days I was gone pouting on the couch and wouldn't play with her and barely played with her boyfriend. So glad I found this guy.
July 24, 2021 - Saturday - Today was our long drive home. Each of my friend's dogs took turns sitting with me. One's more of a lap dog than the other. Yogi spent most of the time down on the floorboard sleeping. One thing I realized is I really missed having Zak with me. I got to pet a lot of dogs this week and really liked the big ones.
July 23, 2021 - Friday - Today we went back up the mountain. What gorgeous views. We went back to the cabin for a bit and then out to dinner for our last night on vacation. On the way back to the cabin my friend's little girl got to feed a deer along the road. Then we spent the rest of evening around the fire pit with a cigar and a glass of Jack. Great way to end a great vacation.
July 22, 2021 - Thursday - Today was a relaxing day out this morning and then back to the house for a late lunch. My friend passed his grilling secrets on to me. He makes really great wings on the grill and his wife makes some delicious sauces. Today was the first time I wore my fleece. It was actually kinda cold today.
July 21, 2021 - Wednesday - This shot is from our front deck also. These little chipmunks are all over the place. It was my goal to get at least one good shot of one. Today was my day. After breakfast we went back out to the lake to do some paddle boating and paddle boarding. I got some great photos of the family having a great time.
July 20, 2021 - Tuesday - Today is my good friend's birthday and he wanted to play golf. We got up really early to make our tee time. It was a bit chilly but the weather has been better than amazing. This view is from the front of the tee box looking over the green on the sixth hole. Beautiful. Later I got to pet a large, handsome Siberian Husky Great Pyrenees mix at the lake.
July 19, 2021 - Monday - After a full day spent up on a mountain we came back to our place and relaxed at home. With all we did today this is still my favorite photo. Yogi relaxing out on the deck enjoying the evening sun. I can't get over how some dogs just won't run off. Not sure I would have the confidence to leave Zak loose like this here.
July 18, 2021 - Sunday - I've been fortunate to have traveled a little bit in our country and I must say there are a lot of beautiful places. This is one of them. This is the view from out front deck early in the evening. Our fire pit has been put to good use so far with lots of drinks, cigars and s'mores enjoyed around it. The company has been the best part.
July 17, 2021 - Saturday - After a long day of work and some very rushed packing, I went to my friend's last night so we could get a really early start today. It's a long drive to Angel Fire, NM. It's not the most scenic drive until you get out of Texas. The last hour of our route was only about 30 miles down a narrow, bumpy, dirt road, but it opened up on this eventually.
July 16, 2021 - Friday - I also got come fresh cherries in my grocery order a while back and almost forgot about them. I don't remember what variety these are but they're somewhat large and incredibly sweet. I'm going to have to order some more of these before they are out of season again.
July 15, 2021 - Thursday - One of the first things Riley made for me when we moved in together was Velvetta Mac and Cheese. This might be one of the last things she makes for me, Broccoli Mac and Cheese. I'm writing this almost a week later and now know she's taken a job far away. I'm going to miss my baby.
July 14, 2021 - Wednesday - I'm not sure what I was doing tonight except that I've been working late this week trying to get stuff out the door and make things as easy as possible for the rest of the team at work while I'm out next week. It won't just be me though. I'm going with my good friend/coworker and his family on vacation. Biscuit won't miss me at all.
July 13, 2021 - Tuesday - I got some avocados Sunday and made avocado toast for breakfast this morning. No eggs or tomatoes this time just a little bit of seasoning. This one was the perfect ripeness and all the right colors with no bruises. I have three more left so I know what I'll be having for breakfast for the rest of the week. The puppies will be glad to hear it.
July 12, 2021 - Monday - I wrapped up work today and spent some time on the couch relaxing before dinner. Pancake has taken to laying either right next to my right leg or to my right just a bit. She was all snuggled up in a blanket napping. She's gotten a little bit spoiled in the last year or so but she's still my baby.
July 11, 2021 - Sunday - Tonight I watched my favorite movie of all time, Life is Beautiful. I love this scene that shows the passing of time without a cut. The colors, the setting, the night to day and the music. Now that I've got to this movie I'm not sure how much longer I'll keep doing this movie watching project.
July 10, 2021 - Saturday - Tonight a bunch of us went out to surprise our friend for his 50th birthday. It was a great dinner with friends and the after party wrapped up with a good cigar and a bit of Jack. His actual birthday isn't for another few days so more celebrating will be happening soon.
July 9, 2021 - Friday - I was out yesterday picking up after the pooches and saw a few new mushrooms growing in the yard. The grass is a little tall where this was growing. That bit of green blur is a blade of grass. You can see the sun shining through this one.
July 8, 2021 - Thursday - Riley went to Austin for her birthday and while she was there she went to The Salt Lick. She brought me home some of their blackberry cobbler. This was so very good, even without ice cream! I've got to give this another shot. I've made it before but it did not turn out nearly as good as this.
July 7, 2021 - Wednesday - Today my baby turns 25, a quarter century. She says she feels old. I guess time goes by quickly to all of us regardless of age. She was gone all day today. I saw the bright, setting sun peaking through the crepe myrtle when I was walking back from taking out the trash.
July 6, 2021 - Tuesday - Yesterday my friend brought me some of the tomatoes from her garden. I put those with a bunch of my own and a bit of my basil for the first Caprese Salad with home grown tomaotes. I've been looking forward to this for a long time. I have another bundle in my window saving them from the birds.
July 5, 2021 - Monday - A friend and I tried a new dessert place called Better Than Sex. All the dessert descriptions were full of innuendo and the art was all very suggestive. This is the Between the Red Velvet Sheets, a red velvet cheesecake with cream cheese frosting. It's really good but if this is better than the sex your having I feel bad for you.
July 4, 2021 - Sunday - I had a pretty uneventful 4th of July. I've never seen Billy Madison and I'm not a huge fan of Adam Sandler. I like some of his movies but most of them not so much. This one was okay. Maybe I'm just not a big fan of golf because I thought the Waterboy was hilarious.
July 3, 2021 - Saturday - I spent most of the day at my friend's house with him and his family. He had some other friends and neighbors over too. He grilled some meats for tacos. There were lots of other snacks, some somewhat disappointing guacamole and a few drinks. There was even a cigar in there somewhere. All in all a really great day.
June 2, 2021 - Friday - I am finally starting a project at home and I needed to come visit my friend to pick up some of the tools that have been here at her place since I did some work here a long while back. She has the coolest back yard and she may have an addiction to plants. She has cool pets too.
July 1, 2021 - Thursday - It's hard to imagine that their first movie is arguably still their best even considering all the great movies since. Tonight I watched the original Toy Story. Such a great story. The whole thing could have been pencil sketches and I think it would have still been a great movie. Way to go Pixar!
