Why do I still do this....

 

BoI don't know. After 10 years and almost 3,500 photos I still don't know.

 

I started this after I lost my job in 2010.  There have been lots and lots of days when I wonder why I even keep doing this. I realized a long while back there's mostly no rhyme or reason so I stopped wondering and just do it. Randomly I hear from random people who mention they like what I'm doing and that's really encouraging.

 

I initially posted my photos as an album on Facebook to share with friends. I went back to my birthday in June. That’s why there are only a few photos in that first month and why it starts in the middle of the month.

Soon after I built a flash website based on this collection. I did the next version in November of 2011, I wanted it to be accessible on mobile devices too. The next major update came in March of 2012. And since then there's just been minor design updates and tweaks. Over the years I've noticed some things are seasonal, recurring around the same time each year. The best part - there are still NO rules. Some days the photos are more inspired than others. Everything is still valid though; the interesting, the silly or the mundane, just because.

 

I try to take a photo every day, but sometimes I don’t. Of course some days I take way more than one. Vacations and events are big occasions though I try not to post photos of family and friends. I didn’t really come to this decision until a little ways into this so you’ll see a few faces in the early months of this project.
